25POUR OUT RAGE YOUR ON THE NATIONS WHICH NOT THEY HAVE KNOWN YOU AND ON CLANS WHICH ON NAME YOUR NOT THEY HAVE CALLED FOR THEY HAVE CONSUMED <OBJ.> JACOB AND THEY HAVE CONSUMED HIM AND THEY HAVE MADE AN END OF HIM AND <OBJ.> HABITATION HIS THEY HAVE DEVASTATED 25Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge You, and on the families that do not call on Your name. For they have devoured Jacob; they have consumed him and finished him off; they have devastated his homeland.
1THE WORD WHICH IT CAME TO JEREMIAH FROM WITH YAHWEH <TO> SAYING The Broken Covenant 1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
2HEAR <OBJ.> [THE] WORDS OF THE COVENANT <THE> THIS AND YOU WILL SPEAK THEM TO EVERYONE OF JUDAH AND TO [THE] INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM 2“Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.
3AND YOU WILL SAY TO THEM THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL [IS] CURSED THE PERSON WHO NOT HE WILL HEAR <OBJ.> [THE] WORDS OF THE COVENANT <THE> THIS 3You must tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is the man who does not obey the words of this covenant,
4WHICH I COMMANDED <OBJ.> ANCESTORS YOUR ON [THE] DAY BROUGHT OUT I <OBJ.> THEM FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT FROM [THE] FURNACE OF <THE> IRON <TO> SAYING LISTEN TO VOICE MY AND YOU WILL DO <OBJ.> THEM ACCORDING TO ALL THAT I WILL COMMAND <OBJ.> YOU AND YOU WILL BECOME FOR <THE> ME <INTO> A PEOPLE AND I I WILL BECOME FOR <THE> YOU <INTO> GOD 4which I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey Me, and do everything I command you, and you will be My people, and I will be your God.’
5SO AS TO CARRY OUT <OBJ.> THE OATH WHICH I SWORE TO ANCESTORS YOUR TO GIVE TO <THE> THEM A LAND FLOWING OF MILK AND HONEY LIKE THE DAY <THE> THIS AND I ANSWERED AND I SAID AMEN O YAHWEH 5This was in order to establish the oath I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is to this day “Amen, LORD,” I answered.
6AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO ME PROCLAIM <OBJ.> ALL THE WORDS <THE> THESE IN [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AND IN [THE] STREETS OF JERUSALEM <TO> SAYING HEAR <OBJ.> [THE] WORDS OF THE COVENANT <THE> THIS AND YOU WILL DO <OBJ.> THEM 6Then the LORD said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant and carry them out.
7FOR CERTAINLY <TO WARN> I WARNED <IN> ANCESTORS YOUR ON [THE] DAY BROUGHT UP I <OBJ.> THEM FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT AND UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS RISING EARLY AND WARNING <TO> SAYING LISTEN TO VOICE MY 7For from the time I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt until today, I strongly warned them again and again,*NoteCloseLiterally I earnestly warned them, rising up early and warning (them), saying, ‘Obey My voice.’
8AND NOT THEY LISTENED AND NOT THEY INCLINED <OBJ.> EAR THEIR AND THEY WALKED EVERYONE IN [THE] STUBBORNNESS OF OWN HEART THEIR <THE> EVIL AND I BROUGHT ON THEM <OBJ.> ALL [THE] WORDS OF THE COVENANT <THE> THIS WHICH I COMMANDED TO DO AND NOT THEY DID 8Yet they would not obey or incline their ears, but each one followed the stubbornness of his evil heart. So I brought on them all the curses of this covenant I had commanded them to follow but they did not keep
9AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO ME IT HAS BEEN FOUND A CONSPIRACY AMONG EVERYONE OF JUDAH AND AMONG [THE] INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM 9And the LORD told me, “There is a conspiracy among the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.
10THEY HAVE RETURNED TO [THE] INIQUITIES OF ANCESTORS THEIR <THE> FORMER WHO THEY REFUSED TO HEAR <OBJ.> WORDS MY AND THEY THEY HAVE WALKED AFTER GODS OTHER TO SERVE THEM THEY HAVE BROKEN [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WHICH I MADE WITH ANCESTORS THEIR 10They have returned to the sins of their forefathers who refused to obey My words. They have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their fathers.
11<TO> THEREFORE THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO BRING TO THEM A CALAMITY WHICH NOT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GO OUT FROM IT AND THEY WILL CRY OUT TO ME AND NOT I WILL LISTEN TO THEM 11Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to bring upon them a disaster that they cannot escape. They will cry out to Me, but I will not listen to them.
12AND THEY WILL GO [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AND [THE] INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM AND THEY WILL CRY OUT TO THE GODS WHICH THEY [ARE] MAKING SMOKE TO <THE> THEM AND CERTAINLY <TO DELIVER> NOT THEY WILL DELIVER <TO> <THE> THEM AT [THE] TIME OF CALAMITY THEIR 12Then the cities of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to which they have been burning incense but these gods certainly will not save them in their time of disaster.
13FOR [THE] NUMBER OF CITIES YOUR THEY ARE GODS YOUR O JUDAH AND [THE] NUMBER OF [THE] STREETS OF JERUSALEM YOU HAVE MADE ALTARS TO THE SHAMEFUL THING ALTARS TO MAKE SMOKE TO <THE> BAAL 13Your gods are indeed as numerous as your cities, O Judah; the altars of shame you have set up— the altars to burn incense to Baal— are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’
14AND YOU MAY NOT YOU PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS AND MAY NOT YOU LIFT UP FOR THEM A CRY OF ENTREATY AND A PRAYER FOR NOT I [WILL BE] LISTENING AT [THE] TIME CALL OUT THEY TO ME FOR CALAMITY THEIR 14As for you, do not pray for these people. Do not raise up a cry or a prayer on their behalf, for I will not be listening when they call out to Me in their time of disaster.
15WHAT? TO BELOVED [ONE] MY IN HOUSE MY DOING IT <THE> PLAN <TOWARDS> THE MANY [PEOPLE] AND FLESH OF HOLINESS THEY WILL PASS AWAY FROM ON <THE> YOU FOR WICKEDNESS YOUR THEN YOU WILL REJOICE 15What right has My beloved in My house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your doom? When you are wicked, then you rejoice.
16AN OLIVE TREE LUXURIANT BEAUTIFUL OF FRUIT OF FORM HE CALLED YAHWEH NAME YOUR TO [THE] SOUND OF A RAINSTORM GREAT HE HAS KINDLED A FIRE ON IT AND THEY ARE BAD BRANCHES ITS 16The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.
17AND YAHWEH OF HOSTS WHO PLANTED <OBJ.> YOU HE HAS SPOKEN ON YOU EVIL ON ACCOUNT OF [THE] EVIL OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH WHICH THEY HAVE DONE FOR <THE> THEMSELVES TO PROVOKE TO ANGER ME BY MAKING SMOKE TO <THE> BAAL 17The LORD of Hosts, who planted you, has decreed disaster against you on account of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have brought upon themselves, provoking Me to anger by burning incense to Baal.”
18AND YAHWEH HE MADE KNOWN TO ME AND I KNEW! THEN YOU SHOWED ME DEEDS THEIR A Plot against Jeremiah (Jeremiah 18:18–23) 18And the LORD informed me, so I knew. Then You showed me their deeds.
19AND I [HAD BEEN] LIKE A LAMB A TAME ONE [WHICH] IT IS LED TO SLAUGHTER AND NOT I KNEW THAT ON ME THEY HAD PLANNED PLANS LET US DESTROY [THE] TREE WITH BREAD ITS AND LET US CUT OFF HIM FROM [THE] LAND OF [THE] LIVING AND NAME HIS NOT MAY IT BE REMEMBERED AGAIN 19For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had plotted against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”
20AND O YAHWEH OF HOSTS [WHO] JUDGES RIGHTEOUSNESS [WHO] TESTS KIDNEYS AND HEART LET ME SEE VENGEANCE YOUR FROM <THE> THEM FOR TO YOU I HAVE MADE KNOWN <OBJ.> CASE MY 20O LORD of Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart*NoteCloseHebrew the kidneys and mind, let me see Your vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
21<TO> THEREFORE THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON [THE] PEOPLE OF ANATHOTH WHO ARE SEEKING <OBJ.> LIFE YOUR <TO> SAYING NOT YOU MUST PROPHESY IN [THE] NAME OF YAHWEH AND NOT YOU WILL DIE BY HAND OUR 21Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth who are seeking your life and saying, “You must not prophesy in the name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand.”
22<TO> THEREFORE THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO VISIT [JUDGMENT] ON THEM THE YOUNG MEN THEY WILL DIE BY THE SWORD SONS THEIR AND DAUGHTERS THEIR THEY WILL DIE BY <THE> FAMINE 22So this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine.
23AND A REMNANT NOT IT WILL BELONG TO <THE> THEM FOR I WILL BRING CALAMITY TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ANATHOTH [THE] YEAR OF PUNISHMENT THEIR 23There will be no remnant, for I will bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.”
