1[ARE] RIGHTEOUS YOU O YAHWEH IF I BRING A CASE TO YOU NEVERTHELESS JUDGMENTS I WILL SPEAK WITH <THE> YOU WHY? [THE] WAY OF WICKED [PEOPLE] DOES IT PROSPER ARE THEY AT EASE? ALL [THOSE WHO] ACT TREACHEROUSLY OF TREACHERY The Prosperity of the Wicked 1Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead before You. Yet about Your judgments I wish to contend with You: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

Do not trust them, though they speak well of you.

Go, gather all the beasts of the field; bring them to devour her.
10SHEPHERDS MANY THEY HAVE RUINED VINEYARD MY THEY HAVE TRODDEN DOWN <OBJ.> PORTION MY THEY HAVE MADE <OBJ.> [THE] PORTION OF DESIRE MY INTO A WILDERNESS OF DESOLATION 10Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trampled My plot of ground. They have turned My pleasant field into a desolate wasteland.
11HE HAS MADE IT INTO A DESOLATION IT IS IN MOURNING ON ME DESOLATE IT HAS BEEN MADE DESOLATE ALL THE LAND FOR THERE NOT [IS] ANYONE [WHO] PUTS [IT] ON HEART 11They have made it a desolation; desolate before Me, it mourns. All the land is laid waste, but no man takes it to heart.
12OVER ALL [THE] BARE HEIGHTS IN THE WILDERNESS THEY HAVE COME DESTROYERS FOR A SWORD OF YAHWEH [IS] DEVOURING FROM AN END OF [THE] LAND AND TO [THE] END OF THE LAND NOT PEACE [BELONGS] TO ANY FLESH 12Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the sword of the LORD devours from one end of the earth to the other. No flesh has peace.
13PEOPLE HAVE SOWN WHEAT<S> AND THORNS THEY HAVE REAPED THEY HAVE WEARIED THEMSELVES NOT THEY HAVE PROFITED AND BE ASHAMED FROM PRODUCE<S> YOUR FROM [THE] BURNING OF [THE] ANGER OF YAHWEH 13They have sown wheat but harvested thorns. They have exhausted themselves to no avail. Bear the shame of your harvest because of the fierce anger of the LORD.”
14THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON ALL NEIGHBORS MY <THE> EVIL WHO TOUCH <IN> THE INHERITANCE WHICH I GAVE AS AN INHERITANCE <OBJ.> PEOPLE MY <OBJ.> ISRAEL HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO PLUCK UP THEM FROM ON LAND THEIR AND <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH I WILL PLUCK UP FROM AMONG THEM A Message for Israel’s Neighbors (Amos 1:1–15) 14This is what the LORD says: “As for all My evil neighbors who attack the inheritance that I bequeathed to My people Israel, I am about to uproot them from their land, and I will uproot the house of Judah from among them.
15AND IT WILL BE AFTER HAVE PLUCKED UP I <OBJ.> THEM I WILL RETURN AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON THEM AND I WILL BRING BACK THEM EVERYONE TO OWN INHERITANCE HIS AND EVERYONE TO OWN LAND HIS 15But after I have uprooted them, I will once again have compassion on them and return each one to his inheritance and to his land.
16AND IT WILL BE <IF> CERTAINLY [IF] <LEARN> THEY WILL LEARN <OBJ.> [THE] WAYS OF PEOPLE MY TO SWEAR BY NAME MY [BY] [THE] LIFE OF YAHWEH JUST AS THEY TAUGHT <OBJ.> PEOPLE MY TO SWEAR BY <THE> BAAL AND THEY WILL BE BUILT IN AMONG PEOPLE MY 16And if they will diligently learn the ways of My people and swear by My name, saying, ‘As surely as the LORD lives’— just as they once taught My people to swear by Baal— then they will be established among My people.
17AND IF NOT THEY WILL LISTEN AND I WILL PLUCK UP <OBJ.> THE NATION <THE> THAT PLUCKING UP AND DESTROYING [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 17But if they will not obey, then I will uproot that nation; I will uproot it and destroy it, declares the LORD.”
