44FIELDS FOR <THE> SILVER PEOPLE WILL BUY AND THEY WILL WRITE ON THE DOCUMENT AND THEY WILL SEAL [IT] AND CAUSE TO WITNESS [IT] WITNESSES IN [THE] LAND OF BENJAMIN AND IN [THE] SURROUNDINGS OF JERUSALEM AND IN [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AND IN [THE] CITIES OF THE HILL COUNTRY AND IN [THE] CITIES OF THE SHEPHELAH AND IN [THE] CITIES OF THE NEGEV FOR I WILL TURN BACK <OBJ.> CAPTIVITY THEIR [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 44Fields will be purchased with silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah— the cities of the hill country, the foothills,*NoteCloseHebrew Shephelah or lowlands; that is, the western foothills of Judea and the Negev— because I will restore them from captivity,*NoteCloseOr restore their fortunes declares the LORD.”
1AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH TO JEREMIAH A SECOND [TIME] AND HE STILL HE [WAS] SHUT UP IN [THE] COURTYARD OF THE GUARD <TO> SAYING The Excellence of the Restored Nation 1While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time:
2THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH [WHO] MADE IT YAHWEH [WHO] FORMED <OBJ.> IT TO ESTABLISH IT [IS] YAHWEH NAME HIS 2“Thus says the LORD who made the earth,*NoteCloseLXX; Hebrew who made it the LORD who formed it and established it, the LORD is His name:
3CALL TO ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU AND I WILL TELL TO <THE> YOU GREAT [THINGS] AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE [THINGS] [WHICH] NOT YOU KNOW THEM 3Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
4FOR THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL ON [THE] HOUSES OF THE CITY <THE> THIS AND ON [THE] HOUSES OF [THE] KINGS OF JUDAH WHICH HAVE BEEN PULLED DOWN BECAUSE OF THE MOUNDS AND BECAUSE OF THE SWORD 4For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses of this city and the palaces of the kings of Judah that have been torn down for defense against the siege ramps and the sword:
5GOING TO FIGHT WITH THE CHALDEANS AND TO FILL THEM WITH [THE] CORPSES OF <THE> HUMANKIND WHICH I STRUCK DOWN IN ANGER MY AND IN RAGE MY AND WHOM I HAVE HIDDEN FACE MY FROM THE CITY <THE> THIS ON ALL EVIL THEIR 5The Chaldeans are coming to fight*NoteCloseOr They are coming to fight the Chaldeans; that is, the Babylonians and to fill those places with the corpses of the men I will strike down in My anger and in My wrath. I have hidden My face from this city because of all its wickedness.
6HERE I [WILL] BRING UP FOR <THE> IT HEALING AND HEALING AND I WILL HEAL THEM AND I WILL UNCOVER TO <THE> THEM AN ABUNDANCE OF WELL-BEING AND FAITHFULNESS 6Nevertheless, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal its people and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
7AND I WILL TURN BACK <OBJ.> [THE] CAPTIVITY OF JUDAH AND <OBJ.> [THE] CAPTIVITY OF ISRAEL AND I WILL REBUILD THEM AS AT THE FORMER [TIME] 7I will restore Judah and Israel from captivity*NoteCloseOr restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel and will rebuild them as in former times.
8AND I WILL CLEANSE THEM FROM ALL INIQUITY THEIR WHICH THEY HAVE SINNED TO <THE> ME AND I WILL FORGIVE <TO> ALL INIQUITIES THEIR WHICH THEY HAVE SINNED TO <THE> ME AND WHICH THEY HAVE REBELLED AGAINST <THE> ME 8And I will cleanse them from all the iniquity they have committed against Me, and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against Me.
9AND IT WILL BECOME TO <THE> ME <INTO> A NAME OF JOY <INTO> PRAISE AND <INTO> HONOR TO ALL [THE] NATIONS OF THE EARTH WHO THEY WILL HEAR <OBJ.> ALL THE GOOD WHICH I [WILL BE] DOING <OBJ.> THEM AND THEY WILL BE IN AWE AND THEY WILL TREMBLE ON ALL THE GOOD AND ON ALL THE WELL-BEING WHICH I [WILL BE] DOING FOR <THE> IT 9So this city will bring Me renown, joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the good I do for it. They will tremble in awe because of all the goodness and prosperity that I will provide for it.
10THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH AGAIN IT WILL BE HEARD IN THE PLACE <THE> THIS WHICH YOU [ARE] SAYING [IS] DESOLATE IT FROM NOT HUMAN BEING AND FROM NOT ANIMAL IN [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AND IN [THE] STREETS OF JERUSALEM WHICH ARE MADE DESOLATE FROM NOT HUMAN BEING AND FROM NOT INHABITANT AND FROM NOT ANIMAL 10This is what the LORD says: In this place you say is a wasteland without man or beast, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted— inhabited by neither man nor beast— there will be heard again
11[THE] SOUND OF JOY AND [THE] SOUND OF GLADNESS [THE] SOUND OF A BRIDEGROOM AND [THE] SOUND OF A BRIDE [THE] SOUND OF [THOSE WHO] SAY GIVE THANKS TO <OBJ.> YAHWEH OF HOSTS FOR [IS] GOOD YAHWEH FOR [IS] FOR EVER COVENANT LOYALTY OF HIS [THOSE WHO] BRING A THANK-OFFERING [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH FOR I WILL TURN BACK <OBJ.> [THE] CAPTIVITY OF THE LAND AS AT THE FORMER [TIME] HE SAYS YAHWEH 11the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of the bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity*NoteCloseOr restore the fortunes of the land as in former times, says the LORD.
12THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS AGAIN IT WILL BE IN THE PLACE <THE> THIS <THE> DESOLATE FROM NOT HUMAN BEING AND UNTO AN ANIMAL AND IN ALL CITIES ITS PASTURE OF SHEPHERDS [WHO] MAKE TO LIE DOWN FLOCK[S] 12This is what the LORD of Hosts says: In this desolate place, without man or beast, and in all its cities, there will once more be pastures for shepherds to rest their flocks.
13IN [THE] CITIES OF THE HILL COUNTRY IN [THE] CITIES OF THE SHEPHELAH AND IN [THE] CITIES OF THE NEGEV AND IN [THE] LAND OF BENJAMIN AND IN [THE] SURROUNDINGS OF JERUSALEM AND IN [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AGAIN THEY WILL PASS THE FLOCK ON [THE] HANDS OF [ONE WHO] COUNTS HE SAYS YAHWEH 13In the cities of the hill country, the foothills,*NoteCloseHebrew Shephelah or lowlands; that is, the western foothills of Judea and the Negev, in the land of Benjamin and the cities surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.
14HERE! DAYS [ARE] COMING [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH AND I WILL CARRY OUT <OBJ.> THE WORD <THE> GOOD WHICH I HAVE SPOKEN TO [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND TO [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH The Covenant with David 14Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will fulfill the gracious promise that I have spoken to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.
15IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE AND AT THE TIME <THE> THAT I WILL CAUSE TO SPROUT FOR DAVID A BRANCH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HE WILL DO JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IN THE LAND 15In those days and at that time I will cause to sprout for David a righteous Branch, and He will administer justice and righteousness in the land.
16IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE IT WILL BE SAVED JUDAH AND JERUSALEM IT WILL DWELL TO SECURITY AND THIS [IS THAT] WHICH ANYONE WILL CALL <TO> <THE> IT YAHWEH [IS] RIGHTEOUSNESS OUR 16In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is the name by which it will be called The LORD Our Righteousness.*NoteCloseHebrew YHWH Tsidqenu
17FOR THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH NOT IT WILL BE CUT OFF TO DAVID A MAN [WHO] SITS ON [THE] THRONE OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL 17For this is what the LORD says: David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel,
18AND TO THE PRIESTS THE LEVITES NOT IT WILL BE CUT OFF A MAN FROM TO BEFORE ME [WHO] OFFERS UP A BURNT OFFERING AND [WHO] MAKES SMOKE A GRAIN OFFERING AND [WHO] MAKES A SACRIFICE ALL THE DAYS 18nor will the priests who are Levites ever fail to have a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to present sacrifices.”
19AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH TO JEREMIAH <TO> SAYING 19And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
20THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH IF YOU WILL BREAK <OBJ.> COVENANT OF MY THE DAY AND <OBJ.> COVENANT OF MY THE NIGHT AND TO NOT TO BE DAYTIME AND NIGHT AT APPROPRIATE TIME THEIR 20“This is what the LORD says: If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that day and night cease to occupy their appointed time,
21ALSO COVENANT MY IT WILL BE BROKEN WITH DAVID SERVANT MY FROM BELONGING TO <THE> HIM A SON [WHO] REIGNS ON THRONE HIS AND WITH THE LEVITES THE PRIESTS SERVANTS MY 21then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant and with My ministers the Levites who are priests, so that David will not have a son to reign on his throne.
22WHICH NOT IT WILL BE COUNTED [THE] HOST OF THE HEAVENS AND NOT IT WILL BE MEASURED [THE] SAND OF THE SEA SO I WILL INCREASE <OBJ.> [THE] OFFSPRING OF DAVID SERVANT MY AND <OBJ.> THE LEVITES [THE] SERVANTS OF <OBJ.> ME 22As the hosts of heaven cannot be counted and as the sand on the seashore cannot be measured, so too will I multiply the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who minister before Me.”
23AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH TO JEREMIAH <TO> SAYING 23Moreover, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
24¿ NOT HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT? THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS HAVE THEY SAID <TO> SAYING [THE] TWO THE CLANS WHICH HE CHOSE YAHWEH <IN> <THE> THEM AND HE HAS REJECTED THEM AND <OBJ.> PEOPLE MY THEY SPURN! FROM BEING AGAIN A NATION <TO> BEFORE THEM 24“Have you not noticed what these people are saying: ‘The LORD has rejected the two families He had chosen’? So they despise My people and no longer regard them as a nation.
25THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH IF NOT COVENANT OF MY DAYTIME AND NIGHT [THE] FIXED ORDER<S> OF HEAVEN AND EARTH NOT I HAVE ORDAINED 25This is what the LORD says: If I have not established My covenant with the day and the night and the fixed order of heaven and earth,
26ALSO [THE] OFFSPRING OF JACOB AND DAVID SERVANT MY I WILL REJECT FROM TAKING ANY OF OFFSPRING HIS RULERS TO [THE] OFFSPRING OF ABRAHAM ISAAC AND JACOB FOR I WILL CAUSE TO TURN BACK <OBJ.> CAPTIVITY THEIR AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON THEM 26then I would also reject the descendants of Jacob and of My servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore them from captivity*NoteCloseOr restore their fortunes and will have compassion on them.”
