34AND I WILL CAUSE TO CEASE FROM [THE] CITIES OF JUDAH AND FROM [THE] STREETS OF JERUSALEM [THE] SOUND OF JOY AND [THE] SOUND OF GLADNESS [THE] SOUND OF A BRIDEGROOM AND [THE] SOUND OF A BRIDE FOR <INTO> A DESOLATION IT WILL BECOME THE LAND 34I will remove from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem the sounds of joy and gladness and the voices of the bride and bridegroom, for the land will become a wasteland.”
1AT THE TIME <THE> THAT [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH PEOPLE WILL BRING OUT <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF [THE] KINGS OF JUDAH AND <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF OFFICIALS ITS AND <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF THE PRIESTS AND <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF THE PROPHETS AND <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF [THE] INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM FROM GRAVES THEIR Judah’s Sin and Punishment 1“At that time,” declares the LORD, “the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of the officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.
2AND THEY WILL SPREAD OUT THEM TO THE SUN AND TO THE MOON AND TO ALL [THE] HOST OF THE HEAVENS WHICH THEY LOVED THEM AND WHICH THEY SERVED THEM AND WHICH THEY WALKED AFTER THEM AND WHICH THEY CONSULTED THEM AND WHICH THEY BOWED DOWN TO <THE> THEM NOT THEY WILL BE GATHERED AND NOT THEY WILL BE BURIED <INTO> DUNG ON [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND THEY WILL BECOME 2They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed consulted, and worshiped Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.
3AND IT WILL BE CHOSEN DEATH MORE THAN LIFE BY ALL THE REMNANT WHICH REMAIN FROM THE FAMILY <THE> EVIL <THE> THIS IN ALL THE PLACES WHICH REMAIN WHERE I HAVE BANISHED THEM THERE [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS 3And wherever I have banished them the remnant of this evil family will choose death over life,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
4AND YOU WILL SAY TO THEM THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ¿ DO PEOPLE FALL AND NOT DO THEY STAND UP? OR? DOES ANYONE TURN AWAY AND NOT DOES HE RETURN? 4So you are to tell them this is what the LORD says: “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not return?
5WHY? HAS IT TURNED AWAY THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS JERUSALEM APOSTASY ENDURING THEY HAVE KEPT HOLD ON <THE> DECEITFULNESS THEY HAVE REFUSED TO RETURN 5Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
6I HAVE PAID ATTENTION AND I HAVE HEARD NOT RIGHT THEY SPEAK THERE NOT [IS] ANYONE [WHO] RELENTS ON WICKEDNESS HIS <TO> SAYING WHAT? HAVE I DONE ALL OF IT [IS] TURNING IN OWN COURSE THEIR LIKE A HORSE [WHICH] RUSHES IN THE BATTLE 6I have listened and heard; they do not speak what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, asking, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone has pursued his own course like a horse charging into battle.
7ALSO A STORK IN THE HEAVENS IT KNOWS APPOINTED TIMES ITS AND A TURTLE-DOVE AND A SWIFT AND A CRANE THEY KEEP <OBJ.> [THE] TIME OF COMING THEY AND PEOPLE MY NOT THEY KNOW <OBJ.> [THE] ORDINANCE OF YAHWEH 7Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons. The turtledove, the swift, and the thrush*NoteCloseThe precise identification of some of these birds is uncertain. keep their time of migration, but My people do not know the requirements of the LORD.
8HOW? WILL YOU SAY [ARE] WISE WE AND [THE] LAW OF YAHWEH [IS] WITH US TRULY HERE! INTO <THE> FALSEHOOD IT HAS MADE [IT] A STYLUS OF FALSEHOOD OF SCRIBES 8How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the Law of the LORD is with us,’ when in fact the lying pen of the scribes has produced a deception?
9THEY WILL BE PUT TO SHAME WISE [PEOPLE] THEY WILL BE DISMAYED AND THEY HAVE BEEN CAPTURED THERE! <IN> [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH THEY HAVE REJECTED AND WISDOM OF WHAT? [BELONGS] TO <THE> THEM 9The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?
10<TO> THEREFORE I WILL GIVE <OBJ.> WIVES THEIR TO OTHERS FIELDS THEIR TO [THOSE WHO] DISPOSSESS FOR FROM [THE] SMALL AND UNTO [THE] GREAT ALL OF IT [IS] GAINING UNJUST GAIN FROM PROPHET AND UNTO PRIEST ALL OF IT [IS] DOING FALSEHOOD 10Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.
11AND THEY HAVE HEALED <OBJ.> [THE] FRACTURE OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF PEOPLE MY ON A TRIFLING [THING] <TO> SAYING PEACE PEACE AND THERE NOT [IS] PEACE 11They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
12ARE THEY ASHAMED? THAT AN ABOMINATION THEY HAVE DONE ALSO AT ALL <ASHAMED> NOT THEY ARE ASHAMED AND TO BE ASHAMED NOT THEY KNOW <TO> THEREFORE THEY WILL FALL AMONG <THE> [THOSE WHO] FALL AT [THE] TIME OF PUNISHMENT THEIR THEY WILL STUMBLE HE SAYS YAHWEH 12Are they ashamed of the abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they will collapse, says the LORD.
13SURELY <GATHER> I WILL MAKE AN END OF THEM [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH THERE NOT [WILL BE] GRAPES ON THE VINE AND THERE NOT [WILL BE] FIGS ON THE FIG TREE AND THE LEAFAGE IT WILL WITHER AND I GAVE TO <THE> THEM THEY WILL PASS AWAY THEM 13I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”
14CONCERNING WHAT? [ARE] WE SITTING GATHER YOURSELVES SO WE MAY GO INTO [THE] CITIES OF <THE> FORTIFICATION SO WE MAY PERISH THERE FOR YAHWEH GOD OUR HE HAS SILENCED US AND HE HAS GIVEN TO DRINK US WATER OF POISON FOR WE HAVE SINNED TO YAHWEH The People Respond 14Why are we just sitting here? Gather together, let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has doomed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.
15WE WAITED EAGERLY FOR PEACE AND THERE NOT [WAS] GOOD FOR A TIME OF HEALING AND THERE! TERROR 15We hoped for peace, but no good has come, for a time of healing, but there was only terror.
16FROM DAN IT HAS BEEN HEARD [THE] SNORTING OF HORSES HIS FROM [THE] SOUND OF [THE] NEIGHINGS OF MIGHTY [HORSES] HIS IT HAS SHAKEN ALL THE LAND AND THEY HAVE COME AND THEY HAVE CONSUMED [THE] LAND AND WHAT FILLS IT [THE] CITY AND [THE] INHABITANTS IN <THE> IT 16The snorting of enemy horses is heard from Dan. At the sound of the neighing of mighty steeds, the whole land quakes. They come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who dwell in it.
17FOR HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO SEND AMONG <THE> YOU SNAKES VIPERS WHICH THERE NOT FOR <THE> THEM [IS] A CHARM AND THEY WILL BITE <OBJ.> YOU [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 17“For behold, I will send snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you,” declares the LORD.
18CHEERFULNESS MY ON SORROW ON ME HEART MY [IS] FAINT Jeremiah Weeps for His People 18My sorrow is beyond healing;*NoteCloseOr O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.
19THERE! [THE] SOUND OF [THE] CRY FOR HELP OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF PEOPLE MY FROM A LAND OF DISTANCE<S> ¿ [IS] YAHWEH NOT IN ZION OR? [IS] KING ITS NOT IN <THE> IT WHY? HAVE THEY PROVOKED TO ANGER ME BY IDOLS THEIR BY VANITIES OF FOREIGNNESS 19Listen to the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far away: “Is the LORD no longer in Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they provoked Me to anger with their carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?”
20IT HAS PASSED HARVEST IT HAS COME TO AN END SUMMER AND WE NOT WE HAVE BEEN SAVED 20“The harvest has passed, the summer has ended, but we have not been saved.”
21ON [THE] BROKENNESS OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF PEOPLE MY I HAVE BEEN BROKEN I AM IN MOURNING DESOLATION IT HAS TAKEN HOLD OF ME 21For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am crushed. I mourn; horror has gripped me.
22¿ BALM [IS] THERE NOT IN GILEAD OR? A PHYSICIAN [IS] THERE NOT THERE FOR WHY? NOT HAS IT COME UP [THE] HEALING OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF PEOPLE MY 22Is there no balm in Gilead? Is no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?
