2UNTIL WHEN? WILL YOU TORMENT! SELF MY AND WILL YOU CRUSH? ME WITH WORDS 2“How long will you torment me and crush me with your words?
3THIS TEN TIMES YOU HAVE INSULTED ME NOT YOU HAVE BEEN ASHAMED YOU HAVE ILL-TREATED <TO> ME 3Ten times now you have reproached me; you shamelessly mistreat me.
4AND EVEN TRULY I HAVE ERRED WITH ME IT LODGES ERROR MY 4Even if I have truly gone astray, my error concerns me alone.
5IF TRULY ABOVE ME YOU WILL MAGNIFY YOURSELVES AND YOU MAY ARGUE ON ME DISGRACE MY 5If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me and use my disgrace against me,
6KNOW THEN THAT GOD HE HAS WRONGED ME AND NET HIS OVER ME HE HAS CLOSED 6then understand that it is God who has wronged me and drawn His net around me.
7THERE! I CRY OUT VIOLENCE AND NOT I AM ANSWERED I CRY FOR HELP AND THERE NOT [IS] JUSTICE 7Though I cry out, ‘Violence!’ I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice.
8WAY MY HE HAS WALLED UP AND NOT I WILL PASS AND ON PATHS MY DARKNESS HE PUTS 8He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; He has veiled my paths with darkness.

12TOGETHER THEY HAVE COME TROOPS HIS AND THEY HAVE PILED UP ON ME WAY THEIR AND THEY HAVE ENCAMPED ALL AROUND <TO> TENT MY 12His troops advance together; they construct a ramp against me and encamp around my tent.
13BROTHERS MY FROM WITH <THE> ME HE HAS PUT FAR AWAY AND ACQUAINTANCES MY SURELY THEY HAVE BECOME ESTRANGED FROM ME 13He has removed my brothers from me; my acquaintances have abandoned me.
14THEY HAVE CEASED KINDRED MY AND ACQUAINTANCES MY THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN ME 14My kinsmen have failed me, and my friends have forgotten me.
15[THE] SOJOURNERS OF HOUSE MY AND FEMALE SERVANTS MY TO A STRANGER THEY CONSIDER ME A FOREIGNER I HAVE BECOME IN VIEW THEIR 15My guests and maidservants count me as a stranger; I am a foreigner in their sight.
16TO SERVANT MY I CALL AND NOT HE ANSWERS WITH MOUTH MY I SEEK FAVOR TO HIM 16I call for my servant, but he does not answer, though I implore him with my own mouth.
17BREATH MY IT IS LOATHSOME TO WIFE MY AND I AM REPULSIVE TO [THE] SONS OF WOMB MY 17My breath is repulsive to my wife, and I am loathsome to my own family.
18ALSO YOUNG BOYS THEY REJECT <IN> ME I ARISE AND THEY SPOKE AGAINST ME 18Even little boys scorn me; when I appear, they deride me.
19THEY ABHOR ME ALL [THE] MEN OF COUNCIL MY AND WHOM I LOVE THEY HAVE TURNED AGAINST ME 19All my best friends despise me, and those I love have turned against me.
20ON SKIN MY AND ON FLESH MY IT CLINGS BONE MY AND I HAVE ESCAPED! WITH [THE] SKIN OF TEETH MY 20My skin and flesh cling to my bones; I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
21SHOW FAVOR TO ME SHOW FAVOR TO ME O YOU FRIENDS MY FOR [THE] HAND OF GOD IT HAS TOUCHED <IN> ME 21Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me.
