2SPEAK TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND YOU WILL SAY TO THEM I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR 2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: I am the LORD your God.
3ACCORDING TO [THE] DEED[S] OF [THE] LAND OF EGYPT WHICH YOU DWELT IN <THE> IT NOT YOU WILL DO AND ACCORDING TO [THE] DEED[S] OF [THE] LAND OF CANAAN WHERE I [AM] ABOUT TO BRING <OBJ.> YOU THERE TOWARDS NOT YOU WILL DO AND IN STATUTES THEIR NOT YOU WILL WALK 3You must not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live and you must not follow the practices of the land of Canaan, into which I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs.
4<OBJ.> JUDGMENTS MY YOU WILL DO AND <OBJ.> STATUTES MY YOU WILL KEEP BY WALKING IN <THE> THEM I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR 4You are to practice My judgments and keep My statutes by walking in them. I am the LORD your God.

6A MAN A MAN TO ANY RELATIVE OF FLESH HIS NOT YOU WILL DRAW NEAR TO UNCOVER NAKEDNESS I [AM] YAHWEH 6None of you are to approach any close relative to have sexual relations.*NoteCloseLiterally to uncover (their) nakedness; here and throughout this chapter I am the LORD.
7[THE] NAKEDNESS OF FATHER YOUR AND [THE] NAKEDNESS OF MOTHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER [IS] MOTHER YOUR SHE NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER 7You must not expose the nakedness of your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual relations with her.
8[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] WIFE OF FATHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER [IS] [THE] NAKEDNESS OF FATHER YOUR IT 8You must not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; it would dishonor your father.
9[THE] NAKEDNESS OF SISTER YOUR [THE] DAUGHTER OF FATHER YOUR OR [THE] DAUGHTER OF MOTHER YOUR ONE BORN OF HOUSE OR ONE BORN <OF> OUTSIDE NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER NAKEDNESS THEIR 9You must not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
10[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF SON YOUR OR [THE] DAUGHTER OF DAUGHTER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER NAKEDNESS THEIR FOR [ARE] OWN NAKEDNESS YOUR THEY 10You must not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for that would shame your family.
11[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] DAUGHTER OF [THE] WIFE OF FATHER YOUR ONE BORN OF FATHER YOUR [IS] SISTER YOUR SHE NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER 11You must not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
12[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] SISTER OF FATHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER [IS] A RELATIVE OF FATHER YOUR SHE 12You must not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.
13[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] SISTER OF MOTHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER FOR [IS] A RELATIVE OF MOTHER YOUR SHE 13You must not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s close relative.
14[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] BROTHER OF FATHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER TO WIFE HIS NOT YOU WILL DRAW NEAR [IS] AUNT YOUR SHE 14You must not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations with her; she is your aunt.
15[THE] NAKEDNESS OF DAUGHTER-IN-LAW YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER [IS] [THE] WIFE OF SON YOUR SHE NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER 15You must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; you are not to have sexual relations with her.
16[THE] NAKEDNESS OF [THE] WIFE OF BROTHER YOUR NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER [IS] [THE] NAKEDNESS OF BROTHER YOUR IT 16You must not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would shame your brother.
17[THE] NAKEDNESS OF A WOMAN AND DAUGHTER HER NOT YOU WILL UNCOVER <OBJ.> [THE] DAUGHTER OF SON HER AND <OBJ.> [THE] DAUGHTER OF DAUGHTER HER NOT YOU WILL TAKE TO UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER [ARE] RELATIVE[S] THEY [IS] WICKEDNESS IT 17You must not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. You are not to marry her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and have sexual relations with her. They are close relatives; it is depraved.
18AND A WOMAN TO SISTER HER NOT YOU WILL TAKE TO MAKE [HER] A RIVAL WIFE TO UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER WITH HER IN LIFE HER 18You must not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is still alive.
19AND TO A WOMAN IN [THE] MENSTRUOUS IMPURITY OF UNCLEANNESS HER NOT YOU WILL DRAW NEAR TO UNCOVER NAKEDNESS HER 19You must not approach a woman to have sexual relations with her during her menstrual period.
20AND TO [THE] WIFE OF FELLOW CITIZEN YOUR NOT YOU WILL GIVE COPULATION YOUR FOR SEED TO BE UNCLEAN BY <THE> HER 20You must not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife and thus defile yourself with her.
21AND ANY OF OFFSPRING YOUR NOT YOU WILL GIVE TO MAKE PASS TO <THE> MOLECH AND NOT YOU WILL PROFANE <OBJ.> [THE] NAME OF GOD YOUR I [AM] YAHWEH 21You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed*NoteCloseHebrew to make them pass through (the fire) to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.
22AND <OBJ.> A MALE NOT YOU WILL LIE WITH [THE] LYINGS OF A WOMAN [IS] AN ABOMINATION IT 22You must not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination.
23AND IN ANY ANIMAL NOT YOU WILL GIVE COPULATION YOUR TO BE UNCLEAN BY <THE> IT AND A WOMAN NOT SHE WILL STAND <TO> BEFORE AN ANIMAL TO STRETCH OUT WITH IT [IS] CONFUSION IT 23You must not lie carnally with any animal, thus defiling yourself with it; a woman must not stand before an animal to mate with it; that is a perversion.
24MAY NOT YOU DEFILE YOURSELVES BY ALL THESE [THINGS] FOR BY ALL THESE [THINGS] THEY HAVE MADE THEMSELVES UNCLEAN THE NATIONS WHICH I [AM] ABOUT TO SEND AWAY FROM BEFORE YOU 24Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for by all these things the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves.
25AND IT BECAME UNCLEAN THE LAND AND I VISITED INIQUITY ITS ON IT AND IT VOMITED UP THE LAND <OBJ.> INHABITANTS ITS 25Even the land has become defiled, so I am punishing it for its sin, and the land will vomit out its inhabitants.
26AND YOU WILL KEEP YOU <OBJ.> STATUTES MY AND <OBJ.> JUDGMENTS MY AND NOT YOU WILL DO ANY OF ALL THE ABOMINATIONS <THE> THESE THE NATIVE-BORN AND THE SOJOURNER WHO SOJOURNS IN MIDST OF YOU 26But you are to keep My statutes and ordinances, and you must not commit any of these abominations— neither your native-born nor the foreigner who lives among you.
27FOR <OBJ.> ALL THE ABOMINATIONS <THE> THESE THEY DID [THE] PEOPLE OF THE LAND WHO [WERE] <TO> BEFORE YOU AND IT BECAME UNCLEAN THE LAND 27For the men who were in the land before you committed all these abominations, and the land has become defiled.
28AND NOT IT WILL VOMIT UP THE LAND <OBJ.> YOU WHEN MAKE UNCLEAN YOU <OBJ.> IT JUST AS IT VOMITED UP <OBJ.> THE NATION WHICH [WAS] <TO> BEFORE YOU 28So if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it spewed out the nations before you.
29FOR EVERY [ONE] WHO HE WILL DO ANY OF ALL THE ABOMINATIONS <THE> THESE AND THEY WILL BE CUT OFF THE PERSONS WHO DO [THEM] FROM AMONG PEOPLE THEIR 29Therefore anyone who commits any of these abominations must be cut off from among his people.
30AND YOU WILL KEEP <OBJ.> DUTY MY TO NOT TO DO ANY OF [THE] CUSTOMS OF THE ABOMINATIONS WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN DONE <TO> BEFORE YOU AND NOT YOU WILL MAKE YOURSELVES UNCLEAN BY <THE> THEM I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR 30You must keep My charge not to practice any of the abominable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.”
