1 AND HE WAS SAYING TO THEM; AMEN I SAY TO YOU THAT THERE ARE SOME HERE OF THOSE ALREADY STANDING WHO CERTAINLY NOT MAY TASTE OF DEATH UNTIL WHEN THEY MAY SEE THE KINGDOM <THE> OF GOD HAVING COME WITH POWER.
The Transfiguration
(Matthew 17:1–13 ; Luke 9:28–36 ; 2 Peter 1:16–21 )
1 Then Jesus said to them,
“Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God arrive with power.
2 AND AFTER DAYS SIX TAKES ALONG <THE> JESUS <THE> PETER AND <THE> JAMES AND <THE> JOHN AND BRINGS UP THEM INTO A MOUNTAIN HIGH APART [ON THEIR] OWN ALONE. AND HE WAS TRANSFIGURED BEFORE THEM,
2 After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There He was transfigured before them.
3 AND THE GARMENTS OF HIM WAS SHINING WHITE EXCEEDINGLY AS SNOW SUCH AS A LAUNDERER ON THE EARTH NOT IS ABLE THUS TO WHITEN.
3 His clothes became radiantly white, brighter than any launderer on earth could bleach them.
4 AND APPEARED TO THEM ELIJAH WITH MOSES, AND THEY WERE TALKING WITH <THE> JESUS.
4 And Elijah and Moses appeared before them, talking with Jesus.
5 AND ANSWERING <THE> PETER SAYS <THE> TO JESUS; RABBI, GOOD IT IS FOR US HERE TO BE, AND LET US MAKE THREE TABERNACLES FOR YOU ONE AND FOR MOSES ONE AND FOR ELIJAH ONE;
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
6 NOT FOR HE KNEW WHAT HE MAY ANSWER, TERRIFIED FOR THEY WERE.
6 For they were all so terrified that Peter did not know what else to say.
7 AND THERE CAME A CLOUD OVERSHADOWING THEM, AND THERE WAS A VOICE OUT OF THE CLOUD SAYING: THIS IS THE SON OF MINE THE BELOVED; DO LISTEN TO HIM.
7 Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is My beloved Son. Listen to Him!
8 AND SUDDENLY HAVING LOOKED AROUND NO LONGER NO [ONE] THEY SAW EXCEPT <THE> JESUS ALONE WITH THEMSELVES.
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they saw no one with them except Jesus.
9 AND WHEN ARE DESCENDING NOW THEY FROM THE MOUNTAIN HE INSTRUCTED THEM THAT TO NO ONE WHAT THEY HAD SEEN THEY MAY TELL ONLY EXCEPT WHEN THE SON <THE> OF MAN OUT FROM [THE] DEAD HE MAY RISE.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus admonished them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
10 AND THAT SAYING THEY KEPT AMONG THEMSELVES QUESTIONING WHAT IT IS <THE> OUT FROM THE DEAD TO RISE.
10 So they kept this matter to themselves, discussing what it meant to rise from the dead.
11 AND THEY WERE ASKING HIM SAYING: THAT SAY THE SCRIBES THAT ELIJAH IT BEHOOVES TO COME FIRST?
11 And they asked Jesus “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
12 <THE> AND ANSWERING HE WAS SAYING TO THEM; ELIJAH INDEED HAVING COME FIRST RESTORES ALL THINGS; AND HOW HAS IT BEEN WRITTEN OF THE SON <THE> OF MAN THAT MANY THINGS HE MAY SUFFER AND MAY BE SET AT NAUGHT.
12 He replied,
“Elijah does indeed come first, and he restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected?
13 BUT I SAY TO YOU THAT ALSO ELIJAH HAS COME, AND THEY DID TO HIM AS MUCH AS THEY WERE DESIRING EVEN AS IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN OF HIM.
13 But I tell you that Elijah has indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they wished, just as it is written about him.
14 AND HAVING COME TO THE DISCIPLES THEY SAW A CROWD GREAT AROUND THEM AND SCRIBES ARGUING WITH THEM.
The Boy with an Evil Spirit
(Matthew 17:14–18 ; Luke 9:37–42 )
14 When they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them.
15 AND IMMEDIATELY ALL THE CROWD HAVING SEEN HIM THEY MARVELLED AND RUNNING TO [HIM] THEY WERE GREETING HIM.
15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were filled with awe and ran to greet Him.
16 AND HE ASKED THOSE SCRIBES: WHAT ARE YOU DISPUTING WITH THEM?
16 “What are you disputing with them? He asked.
17 AND ANSWERED HIM ONE OUT OF THE CROWD SAID: TEACHER, I BROUGHT THE SON OF MINE TO YOU HAVING A SPIRIT MUTE.
17 Someone in the crowd replied “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a spirit that makes him mute.
18 AND WHENEVER IF HIM IT MAY GRASP, IT THROWS DOWN HIM; AND HE FOAMS AND HE GNASHES <THE> HIS TEETH OF HIM AND IS WITHERING AWAY. AND I SPOKE TO THE DISCIPLES OF YOU THAT IT THEY MAY CAST OUT, AND NOT THEY HAD POWER.
18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.
19 <THE> AND ANSWERING TO THEM HE SAYS; O GENERATION UNBELIEVING! UNTIL WHEN WITH YOU WILL I BE? UNTIL WHEN WILL I BEAR WITH YOU? DO BRING HIM TO ME.
19 “O unbelieving generation! Jesus replied.
“How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.
20 AND THEY BROUGHT HIM TO HIM. AND HAVING SEEN HIM THE SPIRIT IMMEDIATELY THREW INTO CONVULSIONS HIM, AND HAVING FALLEN UPON THE GROUND HE WAS ROLLING AROUND FOAMING.
20 So they brought him and seeing Jesus, the spirit immediately threw the boy into a convulsion He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
21 AND HE ASKED THE FATHER OF HIM; HOW LONG A TIME IS IT THAT THIS HAS BEEN WITH HIM? <THE> AND HE SAID; FROM CHILDHOOD.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father,
“How long has this been with him?
“From childhood, he said.
22 AND OFTEN BOTH INTO <THE> FIRE HIM IT CASTS AND INTO WATERS THAT IT MAY DESTROY HIM; BUT IF ANYTHING YOU ARE ABLE [TO DO], DO HELP US, HAVING COMPASSION ON US.
22 It often throws him into the fire or into the water, trying to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.
23 <THE> AND JESUS SAID TO HIM; <THE> IF YOU ARE ABLE TO BELIEVE ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO THE [ONE] BELIEVING.
23 “If You can? echoed Jesus.
“All things are possible to him who believes!
24 AND IMMEDIATELY HAVING CRIED OUT THE FATHER OF THE CHILD WITH TEARS WAS SAYING; I BELIEVE LORD; DO HELP ME WITH THE UNBELIEF!
24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out “I do believe; help my unbelief!
25 HAVING SEEN NOW <THE> JESUS THAT WAS RUNNING TOGETHER A CROWD, HE REBUKED THE SPIRIT <THE> UNCLEAN SAYING TO IT; O MUTE AND DEAF O SPIRIT, I MYSELF COMMAND YOU: DO COME OUT OF HIM, AND NO MORE SHALL YOU ENTER INTO HIM.
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit.
“You deaf and mute spirit, He said
“I command you to come out and never enter him again.
26 AND HAVING CRIED OUT AND MUCH THROWING INTO CONVULSIONS HIM IT CAME OUT, AND HE BECAME AS IF DEAD IN ORDER FOR <THE> MANY TO SAY THAT HE WAS DEAD.
26 After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said “He is dead.
27 <THE> AND JESUS HAVING TAKEN BY THE HAND HIM RAISED UP HIM, AND HE AROSE.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 AND WHEN WAS ENTERING HE INTO A HOUSE THE DISCIPLES OF HIM IN PRIVATE WERE ASKING HIM; WHY WE OURSELVES NOT WERE ABLE TO CAST OUT IT?
28 After Jesus had gone into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?
29 AND HE SAID TO THEM; THIS <THE> KIND BY NO [THING] IS ABLE TO GO OUT ONLY EXCEPT BY PRAYER AND WITH FASTINGS.
29 Jesus answered
“This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.”
30 AND FROM THERE HAVING GONE FORTH THEY WERE PASSING THROUGH THROUGH <THE> GALILEE, AND NOT WAS HE WANTING THAT ANYONE MAY KNOW [IT];
The Second Prediction of the Passion
(Matthew 17:22–23 ; Luke 9:43–45 )
30 Going on from there, they passed through Galilee. But Jesus did not want anyone to know,
31 HE WAS TEACHING FOR THE DISCIPLES OF HIM AND HE WAS SAYING TO THEM THAT THE SON <THE> OF MAN IS DELIVERED INTO [THE] HANDS OF MEN, AND THEY WILL KILL HIM, AND HAVING BEEN KILLED ON [THE] THIRD DAY HE WILL ARISE.
31 because He was teaching His disciples. He told them,
The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.
32 <THE> AND THEY WERE NOT UNDERSTANDING THE DECLARATION AND THEY WERE AFRAID HIM TO ASK.
32 But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
33 AND THEY CAME TO CAPERNAUM; AND IN THE HOUSE HAVING BEEN HE WAS ASKING THEM; WHAT ON THE WAY TO YOURSELVES WERE YOU DISCUSSING?
The Greatest in the Kingdom
(Matthew 18:1–5 ; Luke 9:46–50 )
33 Then they came to Capernaum. While Jesus was in the house, He asked them,
“What were you discussing on the way?
34 <THE> AND THEY WERE SILENT; WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THEY HAD BEEN DISCUSSING ALONG THE ROAD WHICH [WAS] GREATEST.
34 But they were silent, for on the way they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.
35 AND HAVING SAT DOWN HE CALLED THE TWELVE AND HE SAYS TO THEM; IF ANYONE DESIRES FIRST TO BE, HE WILL BE OF ALL LAST AND OF ALL SERVANT.
35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said
“If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all.
36 AND HAVING TAKEN A CHILD HE SET IT IN MIDST OF THEM, AND HAVING TAKEN IN [HIS] ARMS IT HE SAID TO THEM;
36 Then He had a little child stand among them. Taking the child in His arms, He said to them,
37 WHO[EVER] MAYBE ONE <THE> OF SUCH LITTLE CHILDREN SHALL RECEIVE IN THE NAME OF ME, ME MYSELF RECEIVES; AND WHO[EVER] MAYBE ME MYSELF SHALL RECEIVE, NOT ME MYSELF RECEIVES BUT THE [ONE] HAVING SENT ME.
37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes not only Me, but the One who sent Me.
38 WAS SPEAKING NOW TO HIM <THE> JOHN; SAYING TEACHER, WE SAW SOMEONE IN THE NAME OF YOU CASTING OUT DEMONS WHO NOT FOLLOWS TO US AND WE WERE FORBIDDING HIM BECAUSE NOT HE WAS FOLLOWING US.
38 John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone else driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.
39 <THE> AND JESUS SAID; NOT DO FORBID HIM; NO [ONE] FOR THERE IS WHO WILL DO A WORK OF POWER IN THE NAME OF MINE AND WILL BE ABLE READILY TO SPEAK EVIL OF ME.
39 “Do not stop him, Jesus replied.
“For no one who performs a miracle in My name can turn around and speak evil of Me.
40 WHO[EVER] FOR NOT IS AGAINST US FOR US IS.
40 For whoever is not against us is for us.
41 WHO[EVER] FOR MAYBE MAY GIVE TO DRINK YOU A CUP OF WATER IN THE NAME OF ME BECAUSE OF CHRIST’S YOU ARE, AMEN I SAY TO YOU THAT CERTAINLY NOT MAY LOSE THE REWARD OF HIM.
41 Indeed, if anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.
42 AND WHO[EVER] MAYBE SHALL CAUSE TO STUMBLE ONE OF THE LITTLE ONES THESE WHO ARE BELIEVING IN ME MYSELF, BETTER IT IS FOR HIM RATHER IF IS PUT A MILLSTONE HEAVY AROUND THE NECK OF HIM AND HE HAS BEEN CAST INTO THE SEA.
Temptations and Trespasses
(Matthew 18:6–9 ; Luke 17:1–4 )
42 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea.
43 AND IF SHALL CAUSE TO STUMBLE YOU THE HAND OF YOU, DO CUT OFF IT; BETTER IT IS FOR YOU CRIPPLED TO ENTER INTO <THE> LIFE THAN <THE> TWO HANDS HAVING TO GO AWAY INTO <THE> HELL INTO THE FIRE <THE> UNQUENCHABLE.
43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two hands and go into hell, into the unquenchable fire.
44 WHERE THE WORM OF THEM NOT DIES AND <THE> FIRE NOT IS QUENCHED
45 AND IF THE FOOT OF YOU SHALL CAUSE TO STUMBLE YOU, DO CUT OFF IT; BETTER IT IS FOR YOU TO ENTER INTO <THE> LIFE LAME THAN THE TWO FEET HAVING TO BE CAST INTO <THE> HELL INTO <THE> FIRE <THE> UNQUENCHABLE.
45 If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.
46 WHERE THE WORM OF THEM NOT DIES AND <THE> FIRE NOT IS QUENCHED.
47 AND IF THE EYE OF YOU SHALL CAUSE TO STUMBLE YOU, DO CAST OUT IT; BETTER FOR YOU IT IS WITH ONE EYE TO ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM <THE> OF GOD THAN TWO EYES HAVING TO BE CAST INTO THE HELL OF THE FIRE
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,
48 WHERE THE WORM OF THEM NOT DIES AND THE FIRE NOT IS QUENCHED.’
48 where ‘their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.’
49 EVERYONE FOR WITH FIRE WILL BE SALTED AND ALL SACRIFICE WITH SALT WILL BE SALTED.
50 GOOD [IS] THE SALT; IF HOWEVER THE SALT UNSALTY MAY BECOME, WITH WHAT IT WILL YOU SEASON? DO HAVE IN YOURSELVES SALT AND DO BE AT PEACE WITH ONE ANOTHER.
50 Salt is good, but if the salt loses its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
