34AND NOT YOU WILL MAKE UNCLEAN <OBJ.> THE LAND WHICH YOU [ARE] DWELLING IN <THE> IT WHICH I [AM] DWELLING IN [THE] MIDST OF IT FOR I YAHWEH [AM] DWELLING IN AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 34Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell For I, the LORD, dwell among the Israelites
1AND THEY DREW NEAR [THE] LEADERS OF THE FATHERS OF [THE] CLAN OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF GILEAD [THE] SON OF MAKIR [THE] SON OF MANASSEH FROM [THE] CLANS OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH AND THEY SPOKE <TO> BEFORE MOSES AND <TO> BEFORE THE LEADERS HEADS OF FATHERS OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL Zelophehad’s Daughters Marry (Numbers 27:1–11) 1Now the family heads of the clan of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh, one of the clans of Joseph, approached Moses and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families and addressed them,
2AND THEY SAID <OBJ.> LORD MY HE COMMANDED YAHWEH TO GIVE <OBJ.> THE LAND <IN> AN INHERITANCE BY LOT TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND LORD MY HE WAS COMMANDED BY YAHWEH TO GIVE <OBJ.> [THE] INHERITANCE OF ZELOPHEHAD BROTHER OUR TO DAUGHTERS HIS 2saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.
3AND THEY WILL BELONG TO ONE OF [THE] SONS OF [THE] TRIBES OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO WIVES AND IT WILL BE WITHDRAWN INHERITANCE THEIR FROM [THE] INHERITANCE OF ANCESTORS OUR AND IT WILL BE ADDED TO [THE] INHERITANCE OF THE TRIBE WHICH THEY WILL BELONG TO <THE> THEM AND FROM [THE] LOT OF INHERITANCE OUR IT WILL BE WITHDRAWN 3But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Israel their inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our allotted inheritance would be taken away.
4AND IF IT WILL COME THE JUBILEE OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND IT WILL BE ADDED INHERITANCE THEIR TO [THE] INHERITANCE OF THE TRIBE WHICH THEY WILL BELONG TO <THE> THEM AND FROM [THE] INHERITANCE OF [THE] TRIBE OF ANCESTORS OUR IT WILL BE WITHDRAWN INHERITANCE THEIR 4And when the Jubilee for the Israelites comes, their inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”
5AND HE COMMANDED MOSES <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL ON [THE] MOUTH OF YAHWEH <TO> SAYING RIGHT [THE] TRIBE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH [IS] SPEAKING 5So at the word of the LORD, Moses commanded the Israelites: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks correctly.
6THIS [IS] THE WORD WHICH HE HAS COMMANDED YAHWEH OF [THE] DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD <TO> SAYING TO THE GOOD IN VIEW THEIR THEY WILL BELONG TO WIVES ONLY TO [THE] CLAN OF [THE] TRIBE OF ANCESTOR THEIR THEY WILL BELONG TO WIVES 6This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.
7AND NOT IT WILL GO ABOUT AN INHERITANCE OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM TRIBE TO TRIBE FOR EVERYONE ON [THE] INHERITANCE OF [THE] TRIBE OF ANCESTORS HIS THEY WILL HOLD [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 7No inheritance in Israel may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the Israelites is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8AND EVERY DAUGHTER [WHO] POSSESSES AN INHERITANCE FROM [THE] TRIBES OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO ONE OF [THE] CLAN OF [THE] TRIBE OF FATHER HER SHE WILL BELONG TO A WIFE SO THAT THEY MAY POSSESS [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL EVERYONE [THE] INHERITANCE OF ANCESTORS HIS 8Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.
9AND NOT IT WILL GO ABOUT AN INHERITANCE FROM TRIBE TO TRIBE ANOTHER FOR EVERYONE ON OWN INHERITANCE ITS THEY WILL HOLD [THE] TRIBES OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 9No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Israel must retain its inheritance.”
10JUST AS HE HAD COMMANDED YAHWEH <OBJ.> MOSES SO THEY DID [THE] DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD 10So the daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
11AND THEY BELONGED MAHLAH TIRZAH AND HOGLAH AND MILCAH AND NOAH [THE] DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD TO [THE] SONS OF UNCLES THEIR TO WIVES 11Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to cousins on their father’s side.
12FROM [THE] CLANS OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF MANASSEH [THE] SON OF JOSEPH THEY BECAME <INTO> WIVES AND IT WAS INHERITANCE THEIR WITH [THE] TRIBE OF [THE] CLAN OF FATHER THEIR 12They married within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained within the tribe of their father’s clan.
13THESE [ARE] THE COMMANDMENTS AND THE JUDGMENTS WHICH HE COMMANDED YAHWEH BY [THE] HAND OF MOSES TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IN [THE] PLAINS OF MOAB AT [THE] JORDAN OF JERICHO 13These are the commandments and ordinances that the LORD gave the Israelites through Moses on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.
