13AND I LOOKED AND I HEARD ONE EAGLE FLYING IN MID-HEAVEN SAYING IN A VOICE LOUD; WOE WOE WOE TO THOSE DWELLING ON THE EARTH BECAUSE OF THE REMAINING VOICES OF THE TRUMPET OF THE THREE ANGELS WHO ARE BEING ABOUT TO SOUND [THEIR] TRUMPETS! 13And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three angels! ”
1AND THE FIFTH ANGEL SOUNDED [HIS] TRUMPET, AND I SAW A STAR OUT OF <THE> HEAVEN HAVING FALLEN TO THE EARTH, AND WAS GIVEN TO IT THE KEY OF THE PIT OF THE ABYSS, The Fifth Trumpet 1Then the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the Abyss.
2AND HE OPENED THE PIT OF THE ABYSS; AND WENT UP SMOKE OUT OF THE PIT LIKE [THE] SMOKE OF A FURNACE GREAT, AND WAS DARKENED THE SUN AND THE AIR BY THE SMOKE OF THE PIT. 2The star opened the pit of the Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.
3AND OUT OF THE SMOKE CAME FORTH LOCUSTS UNTO THE EARTH, AND WAS GIVEN TO THEM POWER, LIKE HAVE POWER THE SCORPIONS OF THE EARTH. 3And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth.
4AND IT WAS SAID TO THEM THAT NOT THEY WILL HARM THE GRASS OF THE EARTH NOR ANY GREEN THING NOR ANY TREE, ONLY EXCEPT THE MEN ONLY WHO NOT HAVING THE SEAL <THE> OF GOD ON THE FOREHEADS OF THEM. 4They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5AND IT WAS GRANTED TO THEM THAT NOT THEY MAY KILL THEM, BUT THAT THEY WILL TORMENT [THEM] MONTHS FIVE, AND THE TORMENT OF THEM [WAS] LIKE TORMENT OF A SCORPION WHEN IT MAY STRIKE A MAN. 5The locusts were not given power to kill them, but only to torment them for five months, and their torment was like the stinging of a scorpion.
6AND IN THE DAYS THOSE WILL SEEK <THE> MEN <THE> DEATH AND CERTAINLY NO MORE WILL FIND IT; AND THEY WILL LONG TO DIE, AND HE FLEES <THE> DEATH FROM THEM. 6In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them.
7AND THE APPEARANCE OF THE LOCUSTS [WAS] LIKE AS HORSES PREPARED FOR BATTLE, AND UPON THE HEADS OF THEM [WERE SOMETHING] LIKE CROWNS LIKE AS GOLD, AND THE FACES OF THEM LIKE [THE] FACES OF MEN. 7And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads; and their faces were like the faces of men.
8AND THEY HAD HAIR LIKE HAIR OF WOMEN, AND THE TEETH OF THEM LIKE [THOSE] OF LIONS WERE. 8They had hair like that of women, and teeth like those of lions.
9AND THEY HAD BREASTPLATES LIKE BREASTPLATES OF IRON, AND THE SOUND OF THE WINGS OF THEM [WAS] AS [THE] SOUND OF CHARIOTS OF HORSES MANY RUSHING INTO BATTLE. 9They also had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the roar of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
10AND THEY HAVE TAILS LIKE AS SCORPIONS AND STINGERS IT WAS AND IN THE TAILS OF THEM AND [IS] THE POWER THEY HAVE OF THEM TO INJURE <THE> MEN FOR MONTHS FIVE. 10They had tails with stingers like scorpions, which had the power to injure people for five months.
11AND THEY HAVE OVER THEM A KING <THE> ANGEL OF THE ABYSS; [THE] NAME OF HIM IN HEBREW [IS] ABADDON, AND IN THE GREEK [THE] NAME HE HAS APOLLYON. 11They were ruled by a king, the angel of the Abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon,*NoteCloseAbaddon means Destruction. and in Greek it is Apollyon.*NoteCloseApollyon means Destroyer.
12<THE> WOE THE FIRST HAS PASSED; BEHOLD ARE COMING STILL TWO WOES AFTER THESE THINGS. 12The first woe has passed. Behold, two woes are still to follow.
13AND THE SIXTH ANGEL SOUNDED [HIS] TRUMPET, AND I HEARD VOICE ONE FROM THE FOUR HORNS OF THE ALTAR <THE> GOLDEN <THE> BEFORE <THE> GOD The Sixth Trumpet 13Then the sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God
14SAYING TO THE SIXTH ANGEL THE [ONE] HAVING THE TRUMPET; DO RELEASE THE FOUR ANGELS THOSE BOUND AT THE RIVER <THE> GREAT EUPHRATES. 14saying to the sixth angel with the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates. ”
15AND WERE RELEASED THE FOUR ANGELS WHO PREPARED FOR THE HOUR AND FOR THE DAY AND MONTH AND YEAR SO THAT THEY MAY KILL <THE> A THIRD <THE> OF MANKIND. 15So the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.
16AND THE NUMBER OF THE ARMIES OF THE CAVALRY [WAS] TWICE TEN THOUSAND TEN THOUSANDS; AND I HEARD THE NUMBER OF THEM. 16And the number of mounted troops was two hundred million; I heard their number.
17AND THUS I SAW THE HORSES IN THE VISION AND THOSE SITTING ON THEM HAVING BREASTPLATES FIERY AND HYACINTHINE AND BRIMSTONE. AND THE HEADS OF THE HORSES [WERE] LIKE HEADS OF LIONS, AND OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF THEM PROCEED FIRE AND SMOKE AND BRIMSTONE. 17Now the horses and riders in my vision looked like this: The riders had breastplates the colors of fire, sapphire, and sulfur. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths proceeded fire, smoke, and sulfur.
18BY <THE> THREE PLAGUES THESE WAS KILLED <THE> A THIRD <THE> OF MANKIND, BY THE FIRE AND FROM THE SMOKE AND FROM THE BRIMSTONE WHICH IS PROCEEDING OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF THEM. 18A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke, and sulfur that proceeded from their mouths.
19THE FOR POWER OF THE HORSES IN THE MOUTHS OF THEM ARE AND IN THE TAILS OF THEM. THE FOR TAILS OF THEM [ARE] LIKE AS SERPENTS HAVING HEADS AND WITH THEM THEY INJURE. 19For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; indeed, their tails were like snakes, having heads with which to inflict harm.
20AND THE REST OF THE MEN WHO NOT WERE KILLED BY <THE> PLAGUES THESE NOT EVEN REPENTED OF THE WORKS OF THE HANDS OF THEM, SO THAT NOT THEY WILL WORSHIP THE DEMONS AND THE IDOLS <THE> GOLDEN AND <THE> SILVER AND <THE> BRONZE AND <THE> STONE AND <THE> WOODEN, WHICH NEITHER TO SEE ARE ABLE NOR TO HEAR NOR TO WALK, 20Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.
21AND NOT THEY REPENTED OF THE MURDERS OF THEM NOR OF THE SORCERIES OF THEM NOR OF THE SEXUAL IMMORALITY OF THEM NOR OF THE THEFTS OF THEM. 21Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft.
