31PROCLAIMING THE KINGDOM <THE> OF GOD AND TEACHING THE [THINGS] CONCERNING THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WITH ALL BOLDNESS UNHINDEREDLY. 31Boldly and freely he proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.
1PAUL A SERVANT OF CHRIST JESUS A CALLED APOSTLE SET APART FOR [THE] GOSPEL OF GOD, Paul Greets the Saints in Rome 1Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God—
2WHICH HE PROMISED BEFOREHAND THROUGH THE PROPHETS OF HIM IN [THE] SCRIPTURES HOLY 2the gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,
3CONCERNING THE SON OF HIM, WHO HAVING COME OF [THE] SEED OF DAVID ACCORDING TO FLESH, 3regarding His Son, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh,
4WHO HAVING BEEN DECLARED SON OF GOD IN POWER ACCORDING TO [THE] SPIRIT OF HOLINESS BY RESURRECTION [FROM THE] DEAD, JESUS CHRIST THE LORD OF US, 4and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
5THROUGH WHOM WE HAVE RECEIVED GRACE AND APOSTLESHIP UNTO OBEDIENCE OF FAITH AMONG ALL THE GENTILES ON BEHALF OF THE NAME OF HIM, 5Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
6AMONG WHOM ARE ALSO YOU YOURSELVES CALLED OF JESUS CHRIST; 6And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.
7TO ALL THOSE BEING IN ROME BELOVED OF GOD TO [THOSE] CALLED SAINTS: GRACE TO YOU AND PEACE FROM GOD [THE] FATHER OF US AND [THE] LORD JESUS CHRIST. 7To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8FIRST INDEED I THANK THE GOD OF MINE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST FOR ALL OF YOU BECAUSE THE FAITH OF YOU IS BEING PROCLAIMED IN ALL THE WORLD; Unashamed of the Gospel 8First I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world.
9WITNESS FOR ME IS <THE> GOD, WHOM I SERVE IN THE SPIRIT OF MINE IN THE GOSPEL OF THE SON OF HIM, HOW UNCEASINGLY MENTION OF YOU I MAKE 9God, whom I serve with my spirit*NoteCloseOr in my spirit in preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you
10ALWAYS UPON THE PRAYERS OF MINE [10] IMPLORING, IF SOMEHOW NOW AT LAST I WILL SUCCEED BY THE WILL <THE> OF GOD TO COME TO YOU; 10in my prayers at all times, asking that now at last by God’s will I may succeed in coming to you.
11I LONG FOR TO SEE YOU, THAT SOME I MAY IMPART GIFT TO YOU SPIRITUAL TO THE STRENGTHENING OF YOU, 11For I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,
12THAT NOW IS TO BE ENCOURAGED TOGETHER AMONG YOU THROUGH THE AMONG ONE ANOTHER FAITH OF YOU BOTH AND OF ME. 12that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
13NOT I DO WANT NOW YOU TO BE IGNORANT, BROTHERS, THAT MANY TIMES I PURPOSED TO COME TO YOU AND WAS HINDERED UNTIL THE PRESENT, THAT SOME FRUIT I MAY HAVE ALSO AMONG YOU EVEN AS EVEN AMONG THE OTHER GENTILES. 13I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I planned to come to you (but have been prevented from visiting*NoteCloseLiterally but have been prevented until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
14TO GREEKS BOTH AND TO BARBARIANS, TO [THE] WISE BOTH AND TO [THE] FOOLISH A DEBTOR I AM; 14I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks,*NoteCloseLiterally to Greeks and barbarians both to the wise and the foolish.
15THUS <THE> AS TO ME MYSELF [THERE IS] READINESS ALSO TO YOU WHO [ARE] IN ROME TO EVANGELISE. 15That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
16NOT FOR I AM ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF THE CHRIST; [THE] POWER FOR OF GOD IT IS UNTO SALVATION TO EVERYONE WHO IS BELIEVING — TO JEW BOTH FIRST AND TO GREEK. 16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
17[THE] RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR OF GOD IN IT IS REVEALED FROM FAITH TO FAITH EVEN AS IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN: <THE> AND THE RIGHTEOUS BY FAITH WILL LIVE. 17For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish,*NoteCloseLiterally For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.”*NoteCloseHabakkuk 2:4
18IS REVEALED FOR [THE] WRATH OF GOD FROM HEAVEN UPON ALL UNGODLINESS AND UNRIGHTEOUSNESS OF MEN <THE> THE TRUTH BY UNRIGHTEOUSNESS SUPPRESSING, God’s Wrath against Sin 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
19BECAUSE THE KNOWN <THE> OF GOD MANIFEST IS AMONG THEM; <THE> GOD FOR TO THEM HAS REVEALED [IT]. 19For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
20THE FOR INVISIBLE QUALITIES OF HIM FROM [THE] CREATION OF [THE] WORLD BY THE THINGS MADE BEING UNDERSTOOD ARE CLEARLY SEEN, THE BOTH ETERNAL OF HIM POWER AND DIVINITY, FOR <THE> TO BE THEM WITHOUT EXCUSE. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.
21FOR HAVING KNOWN <THE> GOD NOT AS GOD THEY GLORIFIED [HIM] OR WERE THANKFUL, BUT THEY BECAME FUTILE IN THE THINKING OF THEM, AND WAS DARKENED THE FOOLISH OF THEM HEART; 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts.
23AND THEY CHANGED THE GLORY OF THE IMMORTAL GOD INTO A LIKENESS OF AN IMAGE OF MORTAL MAN AND BIRDS AND QUADRUPEDS AND CREEPING THINGS. 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24THEREFORE AND GAVE UP THEM <THE> GOD IN THE DESIRES OF THE HEARTS OF THEM TO IMPURITY <THE> TO DISHONOR THE BODIES OF THEM BETWEEN THEMSELVES, 24Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another.
25WHO CHANGED THE TRUTH <THE> OF GOD INTO THE FALSEHOOD, AND THEY REVERENCED AND THEY SERVED THE CREATED THING BEYOND THE [ONE] HAVING CREATED [IT], WHO IS BLESSED TO THE AGES! AMEN. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise!*NoteCloseOr forever blessed Amen.
26BECAUSE OF THIS GAVE UP THEM <THE> GOD TO PASSIONS OF DISHONOR; <THE> EVEN FOR FEMALES OF THEM CHANGED THE NATURAL USE INTO THAT CONTRARY TO NATURE, 26For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27LIKEWISE THEN ALSO THE MALES HAVING LEFT THE NATURAL USE OF THE FEMALE WERE INFLAMED IN THE DESIRE OF THEM TOWARD ONE ANOTHER, MALES WITH MALES THE SHAME WORKING OUT, AND THE RECOMPENSE WHICH WAS FITTING OF THE ERROR OF THEM IN THEMSELVES RECEIVING. 27Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28AND EVEN AS NOT THEY DID SEE FIT <THE> GOD TO HAVE IN [THEIR] KNOWLEDGE, GAVE UP THEM <THE> GOD TO A DEPRAVED MIND TO DO THE [THINGS] NOT BEING PROPER, 28Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
29FILLED WITH ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS SEXUAL IMMORALITY WICKEDNESS, COVETOUSNESS, MALICE, FULL OF ENVY, MURDER, STRIFE, DECEIT, MALICIOUSNESS, GOSSIPS 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
30SLANDERERS, HATEFUL TO GOD, INSOLENT ARROGANT, BOASTFUL, INVENTORS OF EVIL THINGS, TO PARENTS DISOBEDIENT, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents.
31FOOLISH, UNTRUSTWORTHY, HEARTLESS IMPLACABLE, UNMERCIFUL, 31They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.
32WHO THE RIGHTEOUS DECREE <THE> OF GOD HAVING KNOWN THAT THOSE SUCH THINGS DOING WORTHY OF DEATH ARE, NOT ONLY THEM THEY ARE PRACTICING BUT ALSO THEY ARE APPROVING OF THOSE PRACTICING [THEM]. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.
