14AND I WILL STORM AWAY THEM TO ALL THE NATIONS WHICH NOT THEY HAVE KNOWN THEM AND THE LAND IT WAS DESOLATE BEHIND THEM FROM [ONE WHO] PASSES BY AND FROM [ONE WHO] RETURNS AND THEY MADE A LAND OF DESIRE INTO A WASTE 14But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known, and the land was left desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a desolation.”
1AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS <TO> SAYING The Restoration of Jerusalem (Micah 4:6–13) 1Again the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying:
2THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS I AM JEALOUS FOR ZION JEALOUSY GREAT AND RAGE GREAT I AM JEALOUS FOR IT 2This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I am jealous for Zion with great zeal; I am jealous for her with great fervor.”
3THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH I HAVE RETURNED TO ZION AND I WILL DWELL IN [THE] MIDST OF JERUSALEM AND IT WILL BE CALLED JERUSALEM [THE] CITY OF <THE> FAITHFULNESS AND [THE] MOUNTAIN OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS [THE] MOUNTAIN OF <THE> HOLINESS 3This is what the LORD says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.”
4THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS AGAIN THEY WILL SIT OLD [MEN] AND OLD [WOMEN] IN [THE] OPEN PLACES OF JERUSALEM AND EACH STAFF HIS [WILL BE] IN HAND HIS FROM ABUNDANCE OF DAYS 4This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of great age.
5AND [THE] OPEN PLACES OF THE CITY THEY WILL BE FILLED BOYS AND GIRLS PLAYING IN OPEN PLACES ITS 5And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”
6THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS IF IT WILL BE DIFFICULT IN [THE] EYES OF [THE] REMNANT OF THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE ALSO IN VIEW MY WILL IT BE DIFFICULT? [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS 6This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “If this is impossible*NoteCloseOr marvelous; twice in this verse in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be impossible in My eyes?” declares the LORD of Hosts.
7THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO SAVE <OBJ.> PEOPLE MY FROM [THE] LAND OF [THE] EAST AND FROM [THE] LAND OF [THE] SETTING OF THE SUN 7This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will save My people from the land of the east and from the land of the west.
8AND I WILL BRING <OBJ.> THEM AND THEY WILL DWELL IN [THE] MIDST OF JERUSALEM AND THEY WILL BECOME FOR ME <INTO> A PEOPLE AND I I WILL BECOME FOR THEM <INTO> GOD IN FAITHFULNESS AND IN RIGHTEOUSNESS 8I will bring them back to dwell in Jerusalem, where they will be My people, and I will be their faithful and righteous God.”
9THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS LET THEM BE STRONG HANDS YOUR O THOSE [WHO] HEAR IN THE DAYS <THE> THESE <OBJ.> THE WORDS <THE> THESE FROM [THE] MOUTH OF THE PROPHETS WHO ON [THE] DAY [WHEN] IT WAS FOUNDED [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS THE TEMPLE TO BE REBUILT 9This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were present when the foundations were laid to rebuild the temple, the house of the LORD of Hosts.
10FOR <TO> BEFORE THE DAYS <THE> THOSE [THE] WAGE[S] OF <THE> PERSON NOT IT HAPPENED AND [THE] WAGE[S] OF THE ANIMAL[S] [WAS] NOT IT AND [BELONGED] TO THE [ONE WHO] WENT OUT AND TO THE [ONE WHO] CAME NOT PEACE FROM THE OPPONENT SO I MAY SEND <OBJ.> EVERY <THE> PERSON EACH ON NEIGHBOR HIS 10For before those days neither man nor beast received wages, nor was there safety from the enemy for anyone who came or went, for I had turned every man against his neighbor.
11AND NOW NOT LIKE THE DAYS <THE> FORMER I [WILL BE] TO [THE] REMNANT OF THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS 11But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as I did in the past declares the LORD of Hosts.
12THAT [THE] SEED OF <THE> PEACE THE VINE IT WILL GIVE FRUIT ITS AND THE LAND IT WILL GIVE <OBJ.> PRODUCE ITS AND THE HEAVENS THEY WILL GIVE DEW THEIR AND I WILL GIVE AS AN INHERITANCE <OBJ.> [THE] REMNANT OF THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS <OBJ.> ALL THESE [THINGS] 12“For the seed will be prosperous, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will yield its produce, and the skies will give their dew. To the remnant of this people I will give all these things as an inheritance.
13AND IT WILL BE JUST AS YOU WERE A CURSE AMONG THE NATIONS O HOUSE OF JUDAH AND [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL SO I WILL SAVE <OBJ.> YOU AND YOU WILL BE A BLESSING MAY NOT YOU BE AFRAID LET THEM BE STRONG HANDS YOUR 13As you have been a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your hands be strong.”
14FOR THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS JUST AS I PLANNED TO DO HARM TO YOU WHEN PROVOKED TO ANGER ANCESTORS YOUR <OBJ.> ME HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS AND NOT I RELENTED 14For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Just as I resolved to bring disaster upon you when your fathers provoked Me to anger and I did not relent,” says the LORD of Hosts,
15SO I HAVE RETURNED I HAVE PLANNED IN THE DAYS <THE> THESE TO DO GOOD TO <OBJ.> JERUSALEM AND <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH MAY NOT YOU BE AFRAID 15“so now I have resolved to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid.
16THESE [ARE] THE THINGS WHICH YOU WILL DO SPEAK TRUTH EACH WITH NEIGHBOR HIS FAITHFULNESS AND JUSTICE OF PEACE JUDGE IN GATES YOUR 16These are the things you must do: Speak truth to one another, render true and sound judgments in your gates,
17AND EACH <OBJ.> [THE] HARM OF NEIGHBOR HIS MAY NOT YOU PLAN IN HEART YOUR AND AN OATH OF FALSEHOOD MAY NOT YOU LOVE FOR <OBJ.> ALL THESE [ARE THINGS] WHICH I HATE [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 17do not plot evil in your hearts against your neighbor, and do not love to swear falsely, for I hate all these things,” declares the LORD.
18AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS TO ME <TO> SAYING 18Then the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying,
19THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS [THE] FAST OF THE FOURTH [MONTH] AND [THE] FAST OF THE FIFTH [MONTH] AND [THE] FAST OF THE SEVENTH [MONTH] AND [THE] FAST OF THE TENTH [MONTH] IT WILL BECOME FOR [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH <INTO> JOY AND <INTO> GLADNESS AND <INTO> APPOINTED FEASTS GOOD AND <THE> TRUTH AND <THE> PEACE LOVE 19“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: The fasts of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months will become times of joy and gladness, cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore you are to love both truth and peace.”
20THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS YET THIS: THEY WILL COME PEOPLES AND [THE] INHABITANTS OF CITIES MANY 20This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Peoples will yet come— the residents of many cities—
21AND THEY WILL GO [THE] INHABITANTS OF ONE [CITY] TO ONE [CITY] <TO> SAYING LET US GO STEADFASTLY <TO GO> TO ENTREAT <OBJ.> [THE] FACE OF YAHWEH AND TO SEEK <OBJ.> YAHWEH OF HOSTS I WILL GO ALSO I 21and the residents of one city will go to another, saying: ‘Let us go at once to plead before the LORD and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I myself am going.’
22AND THEY WILL COME PEOPLES MANY AND NATIONS MIGHTY TO SEEK <OBJ.> YAHWEH OF HOSTS IN JERUSALEM AND TO ENTREAT <OBJ.> [THE] FACE OF YAHWEH 22And many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to plead before the LORD.”
23THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE THAT THEY WILL TAKE HOLD TEN PEOPLE FROM ALL [THE] TONGUES OF THE NATIONS AND THEY WILL TAKE HOLD ON [THE] SKIRT OF A PERSON JEWISH <TO> SAYING WE WANT TO GO WITH YOU FOR WE HAVE HEARD GOD [IS] WITH YOU 23This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue will tightly grasp the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
