AND HE BROUGHT OUT ASA SILVER AND GOLD FROM [THE] TREASURIES OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH AND [THE] HOUSE OF THE KING AND HE SENT [IT] TO BEN HADAD [THE] KING OF ARAM WHO DWELT IN DAMASCUS <TO> SAYING 2So Asa withdrew the silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he sent it with this message to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:
A COVENANT [BE] BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN YOU AND BETWEEN FATHER MY AND BETWEEN FATHER YOUR HERE! I HAVE SENT TO YOU SILVER AND GOLD GO BREAK COVENANT YOUR WITH BAASHA [THE] KING OF ISRAEL SO HE MAY GO UP FROM ON <THE> ME 3“Let there be a treaty*NoteCloseForms of the Hebrew berit are translated in most passages as covenant; twice in this verse. between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
AND HE LISTENED BEN HADAD TO THE KING ASA AND HE SENT <OBJ.> [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE ARMIES WHICH [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM AGAINST [THE] CITIES OF ISRAEL AND THEY STRUCK DOWN <OBJ.> IJON AND <OBJ.> DAN AND <OBJ.> ABEL MAIM AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] STORES OF [THE] CITIES OF NAPHTALI 4And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim,*NoteCloseAbel-maim was also known as Abel-beth-maacah; see 1 Kings 15:20. and all the store cities of Naphtali.

And with these materials he built up Geba and Mizpah.
AND AT THE TIME <THE> THAT HE CAME HANANI THE SEER TO ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH AND HE SAID TO HIM BECAUSE DEPENDING YOU ON [THE] KING OF ARAM AND NOT YOU DEPENDED ON YAHWEH GOD YOUR THERE- -FORE IT HAS ESCAPED [THE] ARMY OF [THE] KING OF ARAM FROM HAND YOUR Hanani’s Message to Asa 7At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa of Judah and told him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.
¿ NOT THE CUSHITES AND THE LIBYANS WERE THEY <TO> AN ARMY FOR MULTITUDE <TO> CHARIOTRY AND <TO> HORSEMEN TO ABUNDANCE EXCEEDINGLY AND BECAUSE DEPENDING YOU ON YAHWEH HE GAVE THEM IN HAND YOUR 8Were not the Cushites*NoteCloseThat is, people from the upper Nile region and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.
FOR YAHWEH EYES HIS [ARE] ROVING ABOUT IN ALL THE EARTH TO SHOW HIMSELF STRONG WITH [THOSE WHO] HEART THEIR [IS] COMPLETE TO HIM YOU HAVE ACTED FOOLISHLY ON THIS FOR FROM NOW THERE WITH YOU [WILL BE] WARS 9For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. You have acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”
