1 AND IN YEAR EIGHT- TEEN OF THE KING JEROBOAM [THE] SON OF NEBAT HE BECAME KING ABIJAM OVER JUDAH
Abijam Reigns in Judah
(2 Chronicles 13:1–3 )
1 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah,
2 THREE YEARS HE REIGNED IN JERUSALEM AND [THE] NAME OF MOTHER HIS [WAS] MAACAH [THE] DAUGHTER OF ABISHALOM
2 and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.
3 AND HE WALKED IN ALL [THE] SINS OF FATHER HIS WHICH HE HAD DONE <TO> BEFORE HIM AND NOT IT WAS HEART HIS COMPLETE WITH YAHWEH GOD HIS LIKE [THE] HEART OF DAVID ANCESTOR HIS
3 And Abijam walked in all the sins that his father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his forefather had been.
4 FOR FOR [THE] SAKE OF DAVID HE GAVE YAHWEH GOD HIS TO HIM A LAMP IN JERUSALEM BY RAISING UP <OBJ.> SON HIS AFTER HIM AND BY ESTABLISHING <OBJ.> JERUSALEM
4 Nevertheless, for the sake of David, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and to make Jerusalem strong.
5 THAT HE HAD DONE DAVID <OBJ.> THE RIGHT IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH AND NOT HE HAD TURNED ASIDE FROM ALL THAT HE HAD COMMANDED HIM ALL [THE] DAYS OF LIFE HIS ONLY IN [THE] MATTER OF URIAH THE HITTITE
5 For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6 AND WAR IT WAS BETWEEN REHOBOAM AND BETWEEN JEROBOAM ALL [THE] DAYS OF LIFE HIS
6 And there was war between the houses of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of Abijam’s life.
7 AND [THE] REST OF [THE] MATTERS OF ABIJAM AND ALL THAT HE DID ¿ NOT [ARE] THEY WRITTEN ON [THE] SCROLL OF [THE] MATTERS OF THE DAYS OF [THE] KINGS OF JUDAH AND WAR IT WAS BETWEEN ABIJAM AND BETWEEN JEROBOAM
7 As for the rest of the acts of Abijam, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8 AND HE LAY DOWN ABIJAM WITH ANCESTORS HIS AND PEOPLE BURIED <OBJ.> HIM IN [THE] CITY OF DAVID AND HE BECAME KING ASA SON HIS IN PLACE OF HIM
8 And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.
9 AND IN YEAR TWENTY OF JEROBOAM [THE] KING OF ISRAEL HE BECAME KING ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH
10 AND FORTY AND ONE YEAR[S] HE REIGNED IN JERUSALEM AND [THE] NAME OF MOTHER HIS [WAS] MAACAH [THE] DAUGHTER OF ABISHALOM
10 and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.
11 AND HE DID ASA THE RIGHT IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH LIKE DAVID ANCESTOR HIS
11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.
12 AND HE MADE TO PASS AWAY THE MALE CULT PROSTITUTES FROM THE LAND AND HE REMOVED <OBJ.> ALL THE IDOLS WHICH THEY HAD MADE ANCESTORS HIS
12 He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13 AND ALSO <OBJ.> MAACAH MOTHER HIS AND HE REMOVED HER FROM QUEEN-MOTHER THAT SHE HAD MADE AN ABOMINABLE IMAGE TO <THE> ASHERAH POLE AND HE CUT DOWN ASA <OBJ.> ABOMINABLE IMAGE HER AND HE BURNED [IT] IN [THE] WADI OF KIDRON
13 He also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole and burned it in the Kidron Valley.
14 AND THE HIGH PLACES NOT THEY WERE REMOVED ONLY [THE] HEART OF ASA IT WAS COMPLETE WITH YAHWEH ALL DAYS HIS
14 The high places were not removed, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his days.
15 AND HE BROUGHT <OBJ.> [THE] HOLY THINGS OF FATHER HIS AND [THE] HOLY THINGS [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH SILVER AND GOLD AND UTENSILS
15 And he brought into the house of the LORD the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.
16 AND WAR IT WAS BETWEEN ASA AND BETWEEN BAASHA [THE] KING OF ISRAEL ALL DAYS THEIR
War between Asa and Baasha
(2 Chronicles 16:1–6 )
16 Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
17 AND HE CAME UP BAASHA [THE] KING OF ISRAEL ON JUDAH AND HE BUILT <OBJ.> <THE> RAMAH TO NOT [SURELY] PERMITTING [ANY] ESCAPING AND <HE> COMING TO ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH
17 Baasha king of Israel went to war against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.
18 AND HE TOOK ASA <OBJ.> ALL THE SILVER AND THE GOLD WHICH REMAINED IN [THE] TREASURIES OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH AND <OBJ.> [THE] TREASURES OF [THE] HOUSE OF THE KING AND HE GAVE THEM IN [THE] HAND OF SERVANTS HIS AND HE SENT THEM THE KING ASA TO BEN HADAD [THE] SON OF TABRIMMON [THE] SON OF HEZION [THE] KING OF ARAM WHO DWELT IN DAMASCUS <TO> SAYING
18 So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace. He entrusted it to his servants and sent them with this message to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:
19 A COVENANT [BE] BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN YOU BETWEEN FATHER MY AND BETWEEN FATHER YOUR HERE! I SEND TO YOU A GIFT SILVER AND GOLD COME BREAK ! <OBJ.> COVENANT YOUR WITH BAASHA [THE] KING OF ISRAEL SO HE MAY GO UP FROM ON <THE> ME
19 “Let there be a treaty between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
20 AND HE LISTENED BEN HADAD TO THE KING ASA AND HE SENT <OBJ.> [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE ARMIES WHICH [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM ON [THE] CITIES OF ISRAEL AND HE STRUCK <OBJ.> IJON AND <OBJ.> DAN AND <OBJ.> ABEL BETH MAACAH AND <OBJ.> ALL KINNERETH WITH ALL [THE] LAND OF NAPHTALI
20 And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and the whole land of Naphtali, including the region of Chinnereth.
21 AND IT WAS WHEN HEARD BAASHA AND HE CEASED FROM BUILDING <OBJ.> <THE> RAMAH AND HE REMAINED IN TIRZAH
21 When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah.
22 AND THE KING ASA HE MADE PROCLAMATION TO <OBJ.> ALL JUDAH THERE NOT [WAS] AN EXEMPT [PERSON] AND THEY CARRIED OFF <OBJ.> [THE] STONES OF <THE> RAMAH AND <OBJ.> WOOD<S> ITS WHICH HE HAD BUILT BAASHA AND HE BUILT WITH THEM THE KING ASA <OBJ.> GEBA OF BENJAMIN AND <OBJ.> <THE> MIZPAH
22 Then King Asa summoned all the men of Judah, with no exceptions, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials King Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as Mizpah.
23 AND [THE] REST OF ALL [THE] MATTERS OF ASA AND ALL MIGHT HIS AND ALL THAT HE DID AND THE CITIES WHICH HE BUILT ¿ NOT [ARE] THEY WRITTEN ON [THE] SCROLL OF [THE] MATTERS OF THE DAYS OF [THE] KINGS OF JUDAH ONLY TO [THE] TIME OF OLD AGE HIS HE WAS SICK <OBJ.> FEET HIS
Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa
(2 Chronicles 17:1–19 )
23 Now the rest of the acts of Asa, along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.
24 AND HE LAY DOWN ASA WITH ANCESTORS HIS AND HE WAS BURIED WITH ANCESTORS HIS IN [THE] CITY OF DAVID ANCESTOR HIS AND HE BECAME KING JEHOSHAPHAT SON HIS IN PLACE OF HIM
24 And Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.
25 AND NADAB [THE] SON OF JEROBOAM HE BECAME KING OVER ISRAEL IN YEAR TWO OF ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH AND HE REIGNED OVER ISRAEL TWO YEARS
Nadab Reigns in Israel
25 In the second year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned two years.
26 AND HE DID THE EVIL IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH AND HE WALKED IN [THE] WAY OF FATHER HIS AND IN SIN HIS WHICH HE CAUSED TO SIN <OBJ.> ISRAEL
26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
27 AND HE CONSPIRED ON HIM BAASHA [THE] SON OF AHIJAH OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISSACHAR AND HE STRUCK DOWN HIM BAASHA AT GIBBETHON WHICH [BELONGED] TO THE PHILISTINES AND NADAB AND ALL ISRAEL [WERE] LAYING SIEGE ON GIBBETHON
27 Then Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines while Nadab and all Israel were besieging the city.
28 AND HE KILLED HIM BAASHA IN YEAR THREE OF ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH AND HE BECAME KING IN PLACE OF HIM
28 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha killed Nadab and reigned in his place.
29 AND IT WAS WHEN BECAME KING HE HE STRUCK DOWN <OBJ.> ALL [THE] HOUSE OF JEROBOAM NOT HE LEFT ANY BREATHING THING OF JEROBOAM UNTIL HE HAD DESTROYED IT ACCORDING TO [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH WHICH HE SPOKE BY [THE] HAND OF SERVANT HIS AHIJAH <THE> SHILONITE
29 As soon as Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone who breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,
30 ON [THE] SINS OF JEROBOAM WHICH HE SINNED AND WHICH HE CAUSED TO SIN <OBJ.> ISRAEL BY PROVOCATION HIS WHICH HE PROVOKED TO ANGER <OBJ.> YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL
30 because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.
31 AND [THE] REST OF [THE] MATTERS OF NADAB AND ALL THAT HE DID ¿ NOT [ARE] THEY WRITTEN ON [THE] SCROLL OF [THE] MATTERS OF THE DAYS OF [THE] KINGS OF ISRAEL
31 As for the rest of the acts of Nadab, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
32 AND WAR IT WAS BETWEEN ASA AND BETWEEN BAASHA [THE] KING OF ISRAEL ALL DAYS THEIR
32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
33 IN YEAR THREE OF ASA [THE] KING OF JUDAH HE BECAME KING BAASHA [THE] SON OF AHIJAH OVER ALL ISRAEL IN TIRZAH TWENTY AND FOUR YEAR[S]
Baasha Reigns in Israel
33 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah twenty-four years.
34 AND HE DID THE EVIL IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH AND HE WALKED IN [THE] WAY OF JEROBOAM AND IN SIN HIS WHICH HE CAUSED TO SIN <OBJ.> ISRAEL
34 And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
