IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE AND AT THE TIME <THE> THAT WHEN I WILL CAUSE TO TURN BACK <OBJ.> [THE] CAPTIVITY OF JUDAH AND JERUSALEM The LORD Judges the Nations 1“Yes, in those days and at that time, when I restore Judah and Jerusalem from captivity,*NoteCloseOr restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem
2AND I WILL GATHER <OBJ.> ALL THE NATIONS AND I WILL BRING DOWN THEM TO [THE] VALLEY OF JEHOSHAPHAT AND I WILL ENTER INTO JUDGMENT WITH THEM THERE ON PEOPLE MY AND INHERITANCE MY ISRAEL WHICH THEY HAVE SCATTERED AMONG THE NATIONS AND <OBJ.> LAND MY THEY HAVE DIVIDED UP 2I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.*NoteCloseJehoshaphat means the LORD judges; also in verse 12. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land.
3AND TO PEOPLE MY THEY HAVE CAST A LOT AND THEY HAVE EXCHANGED THE BOY FOR THE PROSTITUTE AND THE GIRL THEY HAVE SOLD FOR <THE> WINE AND THEY HAVE DRUNK 3They cast lots for My people; they bartered a boy for a prostitute and sold a girl for wine to drink.
4AND ALSO WHAT? [ARE] YOU TO ME O TYRE AND SIDON AND ALL [THE] TERRITORIES OF PHILISTIA ¿ <THE> RECOMPENSE [ARE] YOU REPAYING TO ME AND OR? MAKING RECOMPENSE [ARE] YOU TO ME SWIFT QUICKLY I WILL RETURN RECOMPENSE YOUR ON HEAD YOUR 4Now what do you have against Me, O Tyre, Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you rendering against Me a recompense? If you retaliate against Me, I will swiftly and speedily return your recompense upon your heads.
5THAT SILVER MY AND GOLD MY YOU TOOK AND DESIRABLE THINGS MY <THE> GOOD YOU TOOK TO OWN TEMPLES YOUR 5For you took My silver and gold and carried off My finest treasures to your temples.*NoteCloseOr palaces
6AND [THE] PEOPLE OF JUDAH AND [THE] PEOPLE OF JERUSALEM YOU SOLD TO [THE] PEOPLE OF THE GREEKS SO AS TO REMOVE FAR AWAY THEM FROM ON OWN TERRITORY THEIR 6You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks,*NoteCloseOr to the peoples of Javan to send them far from their homeland.
7HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO ROUSE THEM FROM THE PLACE WHERE YOU SOLD <OBJ.> THEM THERE <TOWARDS> AND I WILL RETURN RECOMPENSE YOUR ON HEAD YOUR 7Behold, I will rouse them from the places to which you sold them; I will return your recompense upon your heads.
8AND I WILL SELL <OBJ.> SONS YOUR AND <OBJ.> DAUGHTERS YOUR IN [THE] HAND OF [THE] PEOPLE OF JUDAH AND THEY WILL SELL THEM TO [THE] SABEANS TO A NATION DISTANT FOR YAHWEH HE HAS SPOKEN 8I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans— to a distant nation.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
9PROCLAIM THIS AMONG THE NATIONS CONSECRATE A WAR ROUSE THE WARRIORS LET THEM DRAW NEAR LET THEM GO UP ALL [THE] MEN OF <THE> WAR 9Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war; rouse the mighty men; let all the men of war advance and attack!
10BEAT PLOWSHARES YOUR INTO SWORDS AND PRUNING KNIVES YOUR INTO SPEARS THE WEAK [MAN] LET HIM SAY [AM] A WARRIOR I 10Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, ‘I am strong!’
11HURRY AND COME O ALL THE NATIONS FROM ROUND ABOUT AND THEY WILL GATHER THERE <TOWARDS> BRING DOWN O YAHWEH WARRIORS YOUR 11Come quickly, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves. Bring down Your mighty ones O LORD.
12LET THEM BE ROUSED AND THEY MAY GO UP THE NATIONS TO [THE] VALLEY OF JEHOSHAPHAT FOR THERE I WILL SIT TO JUDGE <OBJ.> ALL THE NATIONS FROM ROUND ABOUT 12Let the nations be roused and advance to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit down to judge all the nations on every side.
13SEND OUT [THE] SICKLE FOR IT HAS GROWN RIPE [THE] HARVEST COME TREAD FOR IT IS FULL [THE] WINEPRESS THEY ARE OVERFLOWING THE WINE-VATS FOR [IS] GREAT EVIL THEIR 13Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.*NoteCloseLXX the harvest has come; see also Mark 4:29. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their wickedness is great.
14MULTITUDES MULTITUDES [ARE] IN [THE] VALLEY OF <THE> DECISION FOR [IS] NEAR [THE] DAY OF YAHWEH IN [THE] VALLEY OF <THE> DECISION 14Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the Day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
15SUN AND MOON THEY HAVE BECOME DARK AND [THE] STARS THEY HAVE WITHDRAWN BRIGHTNESS THEIR 15The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will no longer shine.
16AND YAHWEH FROM ZION HE WILL ROAR AND FROM JERUSALEM HE WILL GIVE FORTH VOICE HIS AND THEY WILL SHAKE HEAVEN AND EARTH AND YAHWEH [WILL BE] A REFUGE FOR PEOPLE HIS AND A STRONGHOLD FOR [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 16The LORD will roar from Zion and raise His voice from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.
17AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR [WHO] DWELLS IN ZION [THE] MOUNTAIN OF HOLINESS MY AND IT WILL BE JERUSALEM A HOLY PLACE AND STRANGERS NOT THEY WILL PASS IN IT AGAIN Blessings for God’s People 17Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who dwells in Zion, My holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, never again to be overrun by foreigners
18AND IT WILL BE ON THE DAY <THE> THAT THEY WILL DRIP THE MOUNTAINS SWEET WINE AND THE HILLS THEY WILL GO MILK AND ALL [THE] RAVINES OF JUDAH THEY WILL GO WATER AND A SPRING FROM [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH IT WILL GO FORTH AND IT WILL WATER <OBJ.> [THE] WADI OF <THE> SHITTIM 18And in that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. 19EGYPT <INTO> A DESOLATION IT WILL BECOME AND EDOM <INTO> A WILDERNESS OF DESOLATION IT WILL BECOME FROM [THE] VIOLENCE OF [THE] PEOPLE OF JUDAH WHOM THEY SHED BLOOD INNOCENT IN LAND THEIR 19Egypt will become desolate, and Edom a desert wasteland because of the violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
20AND JUDAH FOR EVER IT WILL REMAIN AND JERUSALEM TO A GENERATION AND A GENERATION 20But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21AND I WILL LEAVE UNPUNISHED BLOOD THEIR [WHICH] NOT I LEFT UNPUNISHED AND YAHWEH [IS] DWELLING IN ZION 21For I will avenge their blood, which I have not yet avenged.*NoteCloseOr For I will pardon their bloodguilt, which I have not yet pardoned. ” For the LORD dwells in Zion.
