29THE HIDDEN [THINGS] [BELONG] TO YAHWEH GOD OUR AND THE REVEALED [THINGS] [BELONG] TO US AND TO DESCENDANTS OUR UNTIL PERPETUITY TO DO <OBJ.> ALL [THE] WORDS OF THE LAW <THE> THIS 29The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law. [’’]
1AND IT WILL BE THAT THEY WILL COME ON YOU ALL THE THINGS <THE> THESE THE BLESSING AND THE CURSE WHICH I HAVE SET <TO> BEFORE YOU AND YOU WILL BRING [THEM] BACK TO HEART YOUR IN ALL THE NATIONS WHERE HE HAS BANISHED YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR THERE TOWARDS The Promise of Restoration (Nehemiah 1:1–11) 1When all these things come upon you— the blessings and curses I have set before you— and you call them to mind in all the nations to which the LORD your God has banished you,
2AND YOU WILL TURN BACK TO YAHWEH GOD YOUR AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO VOICE HIS ACCORDING TO ALL THAT I [AM] COMMANDING YOU THIS DAY YOU AND CHILDREN YOUR WITH ALL HEART YOUR AND WITH ALL BEING YOUR 2and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey His voice with all your heart and all your soul according to everything I am giving you today,
3AND HE WILL TURN BACK YAHWEH GOD YOUR <OBJ.> CAPTIVITY YOUR AND HE WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON YOU AND HE WILL RETURN AND HE WILL GATHER YOU FROM ALL THE PEOPLES WHERE HE HAS SCATTERED YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR THERE TOWARDS 3then He will restore you from captivity*NoteCloseOr restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you from all the nations to which the LORD your God has scattered you.
4IF HE WILL BE BANISHED [ONE] YOUR AT [THE] END OF THE HEAVENS FROM THERE HE WILL GATHER YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR AND FROM THERE HE WILL BRING YOU 4Even if you have been banished to the farthest horizon,*NoteCloseOr to the extremity of the heavens He will gather you and return you from there.*NoteCloseCited in Nehemiah 1:8–9
5AND HE WILL BRING YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR TO THE LAND WHICH THEY TOOK POSSESSION OF ANCESTORS YOUR AND YOU WILL TAKE POSSESSION OF IT AND HE WILL DO GOOD TO YOU AND HE WILL MAKE GREAT YOU MORE THAN ANCESTORS YOUR 5And the LORD your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it. He will cause you to prosper and multiply more than your fathers.
6AND HE WILL CIRCUMCISE YAHWEH GOD YOUR <OBJ.> HEART YOUR AND <OBJ.> [THE] HEART OF OFFSPRING YOUR TO LOVE <OBJ.> YAHWEH GOD YOUR WITH ALL HEART YOUR AND WITH ALL BEING YOUR FOR [THE] SAKE OF LIFE YOUR 6The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, and you will love Him with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
7AND HE WILL PUT YAHWEH GOD YOUR <OBJ.> ALL THE OATHS <THE> THESE ON ENEMIES YOUR AND ON [THOSE WHO] HATE YOU WHO THEY HAVE PERSECUTED YOU 7Then the LORD your God will put all these curses upon your enemies who hate you and persecute you.
8AND YOU YOU WILL TURN AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO [THE] VOICE OF YAHWEH AND YOU WILL DO <OBJ.> ALL COMMANDMENTS HIS WHICH I [AM] COMMANDING YOU THIS DAY 8And you will again obey the voice of the LORD and follow all His commandments I am giving you today.
9AND HE WILL MAKE ABOUND YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR IN ALL [THE] WORK OF HAND YOUR IN [THE] FRUIT OF WOMB YOUR AND IN [THE] FRUIT OF LIVESTOCK YOUR AND IN [THE] FRUIT OF GROUND YOUR TO GOOD FOR HE WILL TURN YAHWEH TO REJOICE ON YOU FOR GOOD JUST AS HE REJOICED ON ANCESTORS YOUR 9So the LORD your God will make you abound in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land. Indeed, the LORD will again delight in your prosperity, as He delighted in that of your fathers,
10IF YOU WILL LISTEN TO [THE] VOICE OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR TO KEEP COMMANDMENTS HIS AND STATUTES HIS THAT IS WRITTEN IN [THE] BOOK OF THE LAW <THE> THIS IF YOU WILL RETURN TO YAHWEH GOD YOUR WITH ALL HEART YOUR AND WITH ALL BEING YOUR 10if you obey the LORD your God by keeping His commandments and statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
11FOR THE COMMANDMENT <THE> THIS WHICH I [AM] COMMANDING YOU THIS DAY NOT [IS TOO] DIFFICULT IT FOR YOU AND NOT [IS] FAR AWAY IT The Choice of Life or Death 11For this commandment I give you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
12NOT [IS] IN THE HEAVENS IT TO SAY WHO? WILL HE GO UP FOR <THE> US THE HEAVENS TOWARDS SO HE MAY FETCH IT FOR <THE> US SO HE MAY MAKE HEAR US <OBJ.> IT SO WE MAY DO IT 12It is not in heaven, that you should need to ask, ‘Who will ascend into heaven*NoteCloseCited in Romans 10:6 to get it for us and proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
13AND NOT [IS] FROM [THE] OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA IT TO SAY WHO? WILL HE PASS OVER FOR <THE> US TO [THE] OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA SO HE MAY FETCH IT FOR <THE> US SO HE MAY MAKE HEAR US <OBJ.> IT SO WE MAY DO IT 13And it is not beyond the sea, that you should need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea*NoteCloseSee Romans 10:7. to get it for us and proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
14FOR [IS] NEAR TO YOU THE WORD VERY IN MOUTH YOUR AND IN HEART YOUR TO DO IT 14But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,*NoteCloseCited in Romans 10:8 so that you may obey it.
15SEE I SET <TO> BEFORE YOU THIS DAY <OBJ.> <THE> LIFE AND <OBJ.> <THE> GOOD AND <OBJ.> <THE> DEATH AND <OBJ.> <THE> EVIL 15See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, as well as death and disaster.
16IF YOU WILL LISTEN TO [THE] COMMANDMENTS OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR WHICH I [AM] COMMANDING YOU THIS DAY TO LOVE <OBJ.> YAHWEH GOD YOUR TO WALK IN WAYS HIS AND TO KEEP COMMANDMENTS HIS AND STATUTES HIS AND JUDGMENTS HIS AND YOU WILL LIVE AND YOU WILL INCREASE AND HE WILL BLESS YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR IN THE LAND WHERE YOU [ARE] ABOUT TO GO THERE TOWARDS TO TAKE POSSESSION OF IT 16For I am commanding you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live and increase, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
17AND IF IT WILL TURN AWAY HEART YOUR AND NOT YOU WILL LISTEN AND YOU WILL BE DRAWN ASIDE AND YOU WILL BOW DOWN TO GODS OTHER AND YOU WILL SERVE THEM 17But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, but are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,
18I TELL TO <THE> YOU THIS DAY THAT CERTAINLY <TO PERISH> YOU WILL PERISH! NOT YOU WILL PROLONG! DAYS ON THE LAND WHERE YOU [ARE] ABOUT TO PASS OVER <OBJ.> THE JORDAN TO GO THERE TOWARDS TO TAKE POSSESSION OF IT 18I declare to you today that you will surely perish you shall not prolong your days in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
19I CALL AS WITNESSES AGAINST <THE> YOU THIS DAY <OBJ.> THE HEAVENS AND <OBJ.> THE EARTH <THE> LIFE AND <THE> DEATH I HAVE SET <TO> BEFORE YOU <THE> BLESSING AND <THE> CURSE AND YOU WILL CHOOSE <IN> <THE> LIFE SO THAT YOU MAY LIVE YOU AND OFFSPRING YOUR 19I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live,
20BY LOVING <OBJ.> YAHWEH GOD YOUR BY LISTENING TO VOICE HIS AND BY CLEAVING TO HIM FOR HE [IS] LIFE YOUR AND [THE] LENGTH OF DAYS YOUR TO DWELL ON THE LAND WHICH HE SWORE YAHWEH TO ANCESTORS YOUR TO ABRAHAM TO ISAAC AND TO JACOB TO GIVE TO <THE> THEM 20and that you may love the LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong your life in the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
