1 AND THEY WERE COMPLETED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH AND ALL HOST THEIR
2 AND HE COMPLETED GOD ON THE DAY <THE> SEVENTH WORK HIS WHICH HE HAD DONE AND HE RESTED ON THE DAY <THE> SEVENTH FROM ALL WORK HIS WHICH HE HAD DONE
2 And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.
3 AND HE BLESSED GOD <OBJ.> [THE] DAY <THE> SEVENTH AND HE SET APART AS HOLY <OBJ.> IT FOR ON <THE> IT HE RESTED FROM ALL WORK HIS WHICH HE HAD CREATED GOD TO MAKE
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished.
4 THESE [ARE] [THE] ACCOUNTS OF THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH WHEN WERE CREATED THEY ON [THE] DAY MADE YAHWEH GOD EARTH AND HEAVEN
Man and Woman in the Garden
4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made them.
5 AND ANY <THE> SHRUB OF THE FIELD NOT YET <IT> WAS ON THE EARTH AND ANY <THE> VEGETATION OF THE FIELD NOT YET <IT> WAS SPROUTING FOR NOT HE HAD CAUSED RAIN YAHWEH GOD ON THE EARTH AND [WAS] A HUMAN THERE NOT TO TILL <OBJ.> THE GROUND
5 Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted, for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.
6 AND WATER <IT> CAME UP FROM THE EARTH AND IT WATERED <OBJ.> ALL [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND
6 But springs welled up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
7 AND HE FORMED YAHWEH GOD <OBJ.> THE MAN DUST FROM THE GROUND AND HE BLEW IN NOSTRILS HIS [THE] BREATH OF LIFE AND HE BECAME THE MAN <INTO> A CREATURE LIVING
7 Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
8 AND HE PLANTED YAHWEH GOD A GARDEN IN EDEN FROM [THE] EAST AND HE PUT THERE <OBJ.> THE MAN WHOM HE HAD FORMED
8 And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, where He placed the man He had formed.
9 AND HE MADE SPROUT YAHWEH GOD FROM THE GROUND EVERY TREE DESIRABLE TO APPEARANCE AND GOOD FOR FOOD AND [THE] TREE OF <THE> LIFE [WAS] IN [THE] MIDDLE OF THE GARDEN AND [THE] TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE GOOD AND EVIL
9 Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 AND A RIVER [WAS] GOING OUT FROM EDEN TO WATER <OBJ.> THE GARDEN AND FROM THERE <IT> DIVIDED AND IT BECAME <INTO> FOUR HEADS
10 Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it branched into four headwaters:
11 [THE] NAME OF THE ONE [IS] PISHON IT [IS] THE [ONE WHICH] GOES AROUND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] LAND OF <THE> HAVILAH WHERE [IS] THERE <THE> GOLD
11 The name of the first river is the Pishon; it winds through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
12 AND [THE] GOLD OF THE LAND <THE> THAT [IS] GOOD [ARE] THERE <THE> BDELLIUM AND [THE] STONE OF <THE> ONYX
12 And the gold of that land is pure, and bdellium and onyx are found there.
13 AND [THE] NAME OF THE RIVER <THE> SECOND [IS] GIHON IT [IS] THE [ONE WHICH] GOES AROUND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] LAND OF CUSH
13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the whole land of Cush.
14 AND [THE] NAME OF THE RIVER <THE> THIRD [IS] TIGRIS IT [IS] THE [ONE WHICH] GOES [THE] EAST OF ASSYRIA AND THE RIVER <THE> FOURTH IT [IS THE] EUPHRATES
14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria.
And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 AND HE TOOK YAHWEH GOD <OBJ.> THE MAN AND HE PUT HIM IN [THE] GARDEN OF EDEN TO TILL IT AND TO KEEP IT
15 Then the LORD God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16 AND HE COMMANDED YAHWEH GOD TO THE MAN <TO> SAYING FROM ANY <THE> TREE OF THE GARDEN CERTAINLY <TO EAT> YOU WILL EAT
16 And the LORD God commanded him “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden,
17 AND FROM [THE] TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE GOOD AND EVIL NOT YOU MUST EAT FROM IT FOR ON [THE] DAY EATING YOU FROM IT CERTAINLY <TO DIE> YOU WILL DIE
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die
18 AND HE SAID YAHWEH GOD NOT [IS] GOOD TO BE THE MAN TO ONLY HIM I WILL MAKE FOR <THE> HIM A HELPER LIKE BEFORE HIM
18 The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.”
19 AND HE FORMED YAHWEH GOD FROM THE GROUND EVERY <THE> ANIMAL OF THE FIELD AND <OBJ.> EVERY <THE> BIRD OF THE HEAVENS AND HE BROUGHT [THEM] TO THE MAN TO SEE WHAT? WILL HE CALL TO <THE> IT AND ALL THAT HE CALLED TO <THE> IT THE MAN A CREATURE LIVING IT [WAS] NAME ITS
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20 AND HE CALLED THE MAN NAMES TO ALL THE LIVESTOCK AND TO [THE] BIRD[S] OF THE HEAVENS AND TO EVERY <THE> ANIMAL OF THE FIELD AND FOR ADAM NOT HE FOUND A HELPER LIKE BEFORE HIM
20 The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
21 AND HE MADE FALL YAHWEH GOD A DEEP SLEEP ON THE MAN AND HE FELL ASLEEP AND HE TOOK ONE OF RIBS HIS AND HE CLOSED UP FLESH IN PLACE OF IT
21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh.
22 AND HE BUILT YAHWEH GOD <OBJ.> THE RIB WHICH HE HAD TAKEN FROM THE MAN INTO A WOMAN AND HE BROUGHT HER TO THE MAN
22 And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him.
23 AND HE SAID THE MAN THIS [ONE] THIS TIME [IS] BONE FROM BONES MY AND FLESH FROM FLESH MY TO THIS [ONE] <IT> WILL BE CALLED WOMAN FOR FROM A MAN SHE WAS TAKEN THIS [ONE]
23 And the man said:
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for out of man she was taken.”
24 THERE- -FORE HE LEAVES A MAN <OBJ.> FATHER HIS AND <OBJ.> MOTHER HIS AND HE CLEAVES TO WIFE HIS AND THEY BECOME <INTO> FLESH ONE
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
25 AND THEY WERE BOTH OF THEM NAKED THE MAN AND WIFE HIS AND NOT THEY WERE ASHAMED
25 And the man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
