25AND HE POURED OUT ON IT RAGE ANGER HIS AND [THE] FIERCENESS OF BATTLE AND IT SET ABLAZE IT FROM ROUND ABOUT AND NOT IT KNEW AND IT BURNED <IN> IT AND NOT IT PUT [IT] ON HEART 25So He poured out on them His furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It enveloped them in flames, but they did not understand; it consumed them but they did not take it to heart.
1AND NOW THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH [WHO] CREATED YOU O JACOB AND [WHO] FORMED YOU O ISRAEL MAY NOT YOU BE AFRAID FOR I HAVE REDEEMED YOU I HAVE CALLED [YOU] BY NAME YOUR [BELONG] TO <THE> ME YOU Israel’s Only Savior 1But now, this is what the LORD says— He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine!
2IF YOU WILL PASS IN THE WATERS [WILL BE] WITH YOU I AND IN THE RIVERS NOT THEY WILL OVERFLOW YOU IF YOU WILL WALK IN FIRE NOT YOU WILL BE BURNED AND FLAME NOT IT WILL BURN <IN> YOU 2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze.
3FOR I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR [THE] HOLY [ONE] OF ISRAEL DELIVERER YOUR I HAVE GIVEN RANSOM YOUR EGYPT CUSH AND SEBA IN PLACE OF YOU 3For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush*NoteCloseThat is, the upper Nile region and Seba in your place.
4<FROM> BECAUSE YOU ARE PRECIOUS IN VIEW MY YOU ARE HONORED AND I I LOVE YOU AND I MAY GIVE HUMANKIND IN PLACE OF YOU AND PEOPLES IN PLACE OF LIFE YOUR 4Because you are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you and nations in place of your life.
5MAY NOT YOU BE AFRAID FOR [AM] WITH YOU I FROM [THE] EAST I WILL BRING OFFSPRING YOUR AND FROM [THE] WEST I WILL GATHER YOU 5Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.
6I WILL SAY TO THE NORTH DELIVER UP AND TO [THE] SOUTH MAY NOT YOU WITHHOLD BRING SONS MY FROM A DISTANCE AND DAUGHTERS MY FROM [THE] END OF THE EARTH 6I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth—
7EVERY <THE> [ONE WHO] IS CALLED BY NAME MY AND [WHOM] FOR GLORY MY I CREATED HIM [WHOM] I FORMED HIM ALSO I MADE HIM 7everyone called by My name and created for My glory, whom I have indeed formed and made.”
8BRING OUT A PEOPLE BLIND AND [ARE] EYES THERE AND DEAF [PEOPLE] AND EARS [BELONG] TO THEM 8Bring out a people who have eyes but are blind, and who have ears but are deaf
9ALL THE NATIONS THEY HAVE ASSEMBLED TOGETHER SO THEY MAY GATHER PEOPLES WHO? AMONG THEM WILL HE DECLARE THIS AND FORMER [THINGS] WILL THEY PROCLAIM TO? US LET THEM APPOINT WITNESSES THEIR SO THEY MAY BE JUSTIFIED AND THEY MAY HEAR AND THEY MAY SAY TRUTH 9All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
10YOU [ARE] WITNESSES MY [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH AND SERVANT MY WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW AND YOU MAY BELIEVE <TO> ME AND YOU MAY PERCEIVE THAT I [AM] HE <TO> BEFORE ME NOT IT WAS FORMED A GOD AND AFTER ME NOT IT WILL BE 10“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.
11I I [AM] YAHWEH AND THERE NOT <FROM> EXCEPT ME [IS] A DELIVERER 11I, yes I, am the LORD, and there is no Savior but Me.
12I I HAVE DECLARED AND I HAVE SAVED AND I HAVE PROCLAIMED AND THERE NOT AMONG YOU [WAS] A STRANGE [GOD] AND YOU [ARE] WITNESSES MY [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH AND I [AM] GOD 12I alone decreed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. So you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.
13ALSO FROM A DAY I [AM] HE AND THERE NOT FROM HAND MY [IS] A DELIVERER I ACT AND WHO? WILL HE REVOKE IT 13Even from eternity I am He, and none can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
14THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH REDEEMER YOUR [THE] HOLY [ONE] OF ISRAEL FOR SAKE YOUR I HAVE SENT BABYLON TOWARDS AND I WILL BRING DOWN [AS] FUGITIVES ALL OF THEM AND [THE] CHALDEANS IN SHIPS SHOUT OF JOY THEIR A Way in the Wilderness 14Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans,*NoteCloseThat is, the Babylonians in the ships in which they rejoice.
15I [AM] YAHWEH HOLY [ONE] YOUR [THE] CREATOR OF ISRAEL KING YOUR 15I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your King.”
16THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH WHO MADE IN THE SEA A WAY AND IN WATERS MIGHTY A PATH 16Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the surging waters,
17WHO SENT OUT CHARIOTRY AND HORSE[S] AN ARMY AND A STRONG [ONE] TOGETHER THEY LAY DOWN NOT THEY ROSE THEY WERE EXTINGUISHED LIKE <THE> WICK THEY WERE QUENCHED 17who brings out the chariots and horses, the armies and warriors together, to lie down, never to rise again; to be extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
18MAY NOT YOU REMEMBER FORMER [THINGS] AND ANCIENT [THINGS] MAY NOT YOU CONSIDER 18“Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.
19HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO DO A NEW [THING] NOW IT IS SPRINGING UP ¿ NOT DO YOU KNOW IT ALSO I WILL MAKE IN THE WILDERNESS A WAY IN A DESOLATE PLACE RIVERS 19Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
20IT HONORS ME [THE] ANIMAL[S] OF THE FIELD JACKALS AND DAUGHTERS OF AN OSTRICH FOR I HAVE PUT IN THE WILDERNESS WATER RIVERS IN A DESOLATE PLACE TO GIVE DRINK TO PEOPLE MY CHOSEN ONE MY 20The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals*NoteCloseOr serpents or dragons and the ostriches,*NoteCloseLiterally and daughters of an ostrich or and daughters of an owl because I provide water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people.
21A PEOPLE WHICH I FORMED FOR MYSELF PRAISE MY THEY WILL RECOUNT 21The people I formed for Myself will declare My praise.
22AND NOT <OBJ.> ME YOU HAVE CALLED ON O JACOB FOR YOU HAVE GROWN WEARY WITH ME O ISRAEL Israel’s Unfaithfulness (Judges 2:10–15; Jeremiah 2:23–37) 22But you have not called on Me, O Jacob, because you have grown weary of Me, O Israel.
23NOT YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO ME [THE] SHEEP OF BURNT OFFERINGS YOUR AND SACRIFICES YOUR NOT YOU HAVE HONORED ME NOT I HAVE BURDENED YOU WITH OFFERING[S] AND NOT I HAVE MADE WEARY YOU WITH FRANKINCENSE 23You have not brought Me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense.
24NOT YOU HAVE BOUGHT FOR ME FOR <THE> MONEY CALAMUS AND [THE] FAT OF SACRIFICES YOUR NOT YOU HAVE SATISFIED ME NEVERTHELESS YOU HAVE BURDENED ME WITH SINS YOUR YOU HAVE MADE WEARY ME WITH INIQUITIES YOUR 24You have not bought Me sweet cane with your silver, nor satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened Me with your sins; you have wearied Me with your iniquities.
25I I [AM] HE [WHO IS] WIPING OUT TRANSGRESSIONS YOUR FOR OWN SAKE MY AND SINS YOUR NOT I WILL REMEMBER 25I, yes I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake and remembers your sins no more.
26CAUSE TO REMEMBER ME LET US ENTER INTO JUDGMENT TOGETHER RECOUNT O YOU SO THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED 26Remind Me, let us argue the matter together. State your case, so that you may be vindicated.
27ANCESTOR YOUR <THE> FIRST HE SINNED AND SPOKESMEN YOUR THEY TRANSGRESSED AGAINST ME 27Your first father sinned, and your spokesmen rebelled against Me.
28SO I MAY PROFANE [THE] OFFICIALS OF HOLINESS AND I WILL GIVE TO <THE> TOTAL DESTRUCTION JACOB AND ISRAEL TO REVILING WORDS 28So I will disgrace the princes of your sanctuary, and I will devote Jacob to destruction*NoteCloseForms of the Hebrew cherem refer to the giving over of things or persons to the LORD, either by destroying them or by giving them as an offering. and Israel to reproach.”
