35AND <OBJ.> ALL FAT ITS HE WILL REMOVE JUST AS IT IS REMOVED [THE] FAT OF THE YOUNG RAM FROM [THE] SACRIFICE OF THE PEACE OFFERING<S> AND HE WILL MAKE SMOKE THE PRIEST <OBJ.> THEM THE ALTAR TOWARDS ON [THE] FIRE OFFERINGS OF YAHWEH AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST ON SIN HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM 35And he shall remove all the fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the peace offerings, and he shall burn it on the altar along with the food offerings to the LORD. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven
1AND ANYONE IF IT WILL SIN AND IT WILL HEAR [THE] SOUND OF AN OATH AND HE [WAS] A WITNESS OR HE SAW OR HE KNEW IF NOT HE WILL TELL AND HE WILL BEAR INIQUITY HIS Sins Requiring a Sin Offering (Leviticus 4:1–35; Leviticus 6:24–30) 1“If someone sins by failing to testify when he hears a public charge about something he has witnessed, whether he has seen it or learned of it, he shall bear the iniquity.
2OR ANYONE WHO IT WILL TOUCH <IN> EVERY THING UNCLEAN OR <IN> A CARCASS OF AN ANIMAL UNCLEAN OR <IN> A CARCASS OF LIVESTOCK UNCLEAN OR <IN> A CARCASS OF A SWARMING THING UNCLEAN AND IT WILL BE HIDDEN FROM HIM AND HE [IS] UNCLEAN AND HE WILL BE GUILTY 2Or if a person touches anything unclean— whether the carcass of any unclean wild animal or livestock or crawling creature— even if he is unaware of it, he is unclean and guilty.
3OR IF HE WILL TOUCH <IN> [THE] UNCLEANNESS OF A HUMAN TO ALL UNCLEANNESS HIS WHICH HE WILL BE UNCLEAN BY <THE> IT AND IT WILL BE HIDDEN FROM HIM AND HE HE KNEW AND HE WILL BE GUILTY 3Or if he touches human uncleanness— anything by which one becomes unclean even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is guilty.
4OR ANYONE IF IT WILL SWEAR AN OATH BY SPEAKING RASHLY WITH LIPS TO DO EVIL OR TO DO GOOD TO ALL THAT HE WILL SPEAK RASHLY <THE> HUMANKIND IN AN OATH AND IT WILL BE HIDDEN FROM HIM AND HE HE KNEW AND HE WILL BE GUILTY TO ONE OF THESE [THINGS] 4Or if someone swears thoughtlessly with his lips to do anything good or evil— in whatever matter a man may rashly pronounce an oath— even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is guilty in the matter.
5AND IT WILL BE THAT HE WILL BE GUILTY TO ONE OF THESE [THINGS] AND HE WILL CONFESS THAT HE HAD SINNED ON IT 5If someone incurs guilt in one of these ways, he must confess the sin he has committed,
6AND HE WILL BRING <OBJ.> GUILT OFFERING HIS TO YAHWEH ON SIN HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED A FEMALE FROM THE FLOCK A EWE LAMB OR A FEMALE GOAT OF GOATS TO A SIN OFFERING AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST FROM SIN HIS 6and he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD for the sin he has committed: a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering. And the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin.
7AND IF NOT IT WILL REACH HAND HIS SUFFICIENCY OF A SHEEP AND HE WILL BRING <OBJ.> GUILT OFFERING HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED TWO TURTLE-DOVES OR TWO YOUNG ONES OF A DOVE TO YAHWEH ONE TO A SIN OFFERING AND ONE TO A BURNT OFFERING 7If, however, he cannot afford a lamb, he may bring to the LORD as restitution for his sin two turtledoves or two young pigeons— one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
8AND HE WILL BRING <OBJ.> THEM TO THE PRIEST AND HE WILL PRESENT <OBJ.> [THE ONE] WHICH [IS] FOR THE SIN OFFERING FIRST AND HE WILL NIP OFF <OBJ.> HEAD ITS FROM IN FRONT OF NECK ITS AND NOT HE WILL SEPARATE [IT] 8He is to bring them to the priest, who shall first present the one for the sin offering. He is to twist its head at the front of its neck without severing it;
9AND HE WILL SPATTER SOME OF [THE] BLOOD OF THE SIN OFFERING ON [THE] SIDE OF THE ALTAR AND THE REMAINDER IN THE BLOOD IT WILL BE DRAINED OUT TO [THE] BASE OF THE ALTAR [IS] A SIN OFFERING IT 9then he is to sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, while the rest of the blood is drained out at the base of the altar. It is a sin offering.
10AND <OBJ.> THE SECOND [BIRD] HE WILL OFFER A BURNT OFFERING ACCORDING TO THE ORDINANCE AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST FROM SIN HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM 10And the priest must prepare the second bird as a burnt offering according to the ordinance. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven
11AND IF NOT IT WILL REACH HAND HIS TO TWO TURTLE-DOVES OR TO TWO YOUNG ONES OF A DOVE AND HE WILL BRING <OBJ.> PRESENT HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED <THE> TENTH OF <THE> EPHAH FINE FLOUR TO A SIN OFFERING NOT HE WILL PLACE ON IT OIL AND NOT HE WILL PUT ON IT FRANKINCENSE FOR [IS] A SIN OFFERING IT 11But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he may bring a tenth of an ephah of fine flour*NoteCloseA tenth of an ephah is approximately 2 dry quarts or 2.2 liters (probably about 2.6 pounds or 1.2 kilograms of flour). as a sin offering. He must not put olive oil or frankincense on it, because it is a sin offering.
12AND HE WILL BRING IT TO THE PRIEST AND HE WILL TAKE A HANDFUL THE PRIEST FROM IT [THE] FULLNESS OF HANDFUL HIS <OBJ.> MEMORIAL OFFERING ITS AND HE WILL MAKE [IT] SMOKE THE ALTAR TOWARDS ON [THE] FIRE OFFERINGS OF YAHWEH [IS] A SIN OFFERING IT 12He is to bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful from it as a memorial portion and burn it on the altar atop the food offerings to the LORD; it is a sin offering.
13AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST ON SIN HIS WHICH HE HAS SINNED ANY ONE OF THESE [THINGS] AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM AND IT WILL BELONG TO THE PRIEST LIKE THE GRAIN OFFERING 13In this way the priest will make atonement for him for any of these sins he has committed, and he will be forgiven The remainder will belong to the priest, like the grain offering.”
14AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING Laws for Guilt Offerings (Leviticus 6:1–7; Leviticus 7:1–10) 14Then the LORD said to Moses,
15ANYONE IF IT WILL ACT UNFAITHFULLY UNFAITHFULNESS AND IT WILL SIN BY INADVERTENCE FROM [THE] HOLY THINGS OF YAHWEH AND HE WILL BRING <OBJ.> GUILT OFFERING HIS TO YAHWEH A RAM UNBLEMISHED FROM THE FLOCK BY VALUATION YOUR SILVER OF SHEKELS BY [THE] SHEKEL OF THE HOLY PLACE TO A GUILT OFFERING 15“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock, of proper value*NoteCloseOr flock or its equivalence in silver shekels according to the sanctuary shekel;*NoteCloseA shekel is approximately 0.4 ounces or 11.4 grams of silver. it is a guilt offering.
16AND <OBJ.> [THAT] WHICH HE SINNED FROM THE HOLY THING HE WILL REPAY AND <OBJ.> FIFTH ITS LET HIM ADD TO IT AND HE WILL GIVE <OBJ.> IT TO THE PRIEST AND THE PRIEST HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM BY [THE] RAM OF THE GUILT OFFERING AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM 16Regarding any holy thing he has harmed he must make restitution by adding a fifth of its value to it and giving it to the priest, who will make atonement on his behalf with the ram as a guilt offering, and he will be forgiven
17AND IF ANYONE THAT IT WILL SIN AND IT WILL DO ONE OF ALL [THE] COMMANDMENTS OF YAHWEH WHICH NOT THEY WILL BE DONE AND NOT HE KNEW AND HE WILL BE GUILTY AND HE WILL BEAR INIQUITY HIS 17If someone sins and violates any of the LORD’s commandments even though he was unaware, he is guilty and shall bear his punishment.
18AND HE WILL BRING A RAM UNBLEMISHED FROM THE FLOCK BY VALUATION YOUR TO A GUILT OFFERING TO THE PRIEST AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST ON INADVERTENCE HIS WHICH HE HAS GONE ASTRAY AND HE NOT HE KNEW AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM 18He is to bring to the priest an unblemished ram of proper value from the flock as a guilt offering. Then the priest will make atonement on his behalf for the wrong he has committed in ignorance, and he will be forgiven
19[IS] A GUILT OFFERING IT CERTAINLY <TO BE GUILTY> HE WAS GUILTY TO YAHWEH 19It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty*NoteCloseOr he has paid full compensation before the LORD.”
