2ANYONE IF IT WILL SIN AND IT WILL ACT UNFAITHFULLY UNFAITHFULNESS AGAINST YAHWEH AND HE WILL DENY <IN> FELLOW CITIZEN HIS <IN> AN ITEM ENTRUSTED OR <IN> DEPOSITED PROPERTY OF A HAND OR <IN> A ROBBERY OR HE HAS OPPRESSED <OBJ.> FELLOW CITIZEN HIS 2“If someone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by deceiving his neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or stolen, or if he extorts his neighbor
3OR HE HAS FOUND A THING LOST AND HE WILL DENY <IN> <THE> IT AND HE WILL SWEAR AN OATH ON FALSEHOOD ON ONE OF ALL THAT HE WILL DO <THE> HUMANKIND TO SIN BY THEM 3or finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely or if he commits any such sin that a man might commit—
4AND IT WILL BE THAT HE WILL SIN AND HE WILL BE GUILTY AND HE WILL RESTORE <OBJ.> THE THING ROBBED WHICH HE ROBBED OR <OBJ.> THE OPPRESSION WHICH HE OPPRESSED OR <OBJ.> THE ITEM ENTRUSTED WHICH IT WAS ENTRUSTED WITH HIM OR <OBJ.> THE THING LOST WHICH HE FOUND 4once he has sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has stolen or taken by extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost property he found,
5OR ANY OF ALL THAT HE WILL SWEAR AN OATH ON IT TO <THE> FALSEHOOD AND HE WILL REPAY <OBJ.> IT IN SUM ITS AND FIFTH<S> ITS LET HIM ADD TO IT TO [THE ONE] WHOM IT [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM HE WILL GIVE IT ON [THE] DAY OF GUILT HIS 5or anything else about which he has sworn falsely. He must make restitution in full add a fifth of the value, and pay it to the owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.
6AND <OBJ.> GUILT OFFERING HIS HE WILL BRING TO YAHWEH A RAM UNBLEMISHED FROM THE FLOCK BY VALUATION YOUR TO A GUILT OFFERING TO THE PRIEST 6Then he must bring to the priest his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram of proper value from the flock.
7AND HE WILL MAKE ATONEMENT ON HIM THE PRIEST <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN TO <THE> HIM ON ONE OF ALL THAT SOMEONE WILL DO TO GUILT BY <THE> IT 7In this way the priest will make atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt
8AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING The Burnt Offering (Leviticus 1:1–17) 8Then the LORD said to Moses,
9COMMAND <OBJ.> AARON AND <OBJ.> SONS HIS <TO> SAYING THIS [IS] [THE] LEGAL [PROCEDURE] OF THE BURNT OFFERING IT THE BURNT OFFERING [WILL BE] ON [THE] HEARTH ON THE ALTAR ALL THE NIGHT UNTIL THE MORNING AND [THE] FIRE OF THE ALTAR IT WILL BURN ON IT 9“Command Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the hearth of the altar all night, until morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar
10AND HE WILL PUT ON THE PRIEST GARMENT HIS LINEN AND UNDERGARMENTS OF LINEN HE WILL PUT ON ON BODY HIS AND HE WILL LIFT UP <OBJ.> THE FATTY ASH WHICH IT WILL CONSUME THE FIRE <OBJ.> THE BURNT OFFERING ON THE ALTAR AND HE WILL PLACE IT BESIDE THE ALTAR 10And the priest shall put on his linen robe and linen undergarments, and he shall remove from the altar the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed and place them beside it.
11AND HE WILL STRIP OFF <OBJ.> GARMENTS HIS AND HE WILL PUT ON GARMENTS OTHER AND HE WILL TAKE OUT <OBJ.> THE FATTY ASH TO FROM [THE] OUTSIDE OF THE CAMP TO A PLACE PURE 11Then he must take off his garments, put on other clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place.
12AND THE FIRE ON THE ALTAR IT WILL BURN ON IT NOT IT WILL BE EXTINGUISHED AND HE WILL KINDLE ON IT THE PRIEST WOOD<S> IN THE MORNING IN THE MORNING AND HE WILL ARRANGE ON IT THE BURNT OFFERING AND HE WILL MAKE SMOKE ON IT [THE] FAT<S> OF THE PEACE OFFERINGS 12The fire on the altar shall be kept burning it must not be extinguished. Every morning the priest is to add wood to the fire, arrange the burnt offering on it, and burn the fat portions of the peace offerings on it.
13A FIRE CONTINUALLY IT WILL BURN ON THE ALTAR NOT IT WILL BE EXTINGUISHED 13The fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it must not be extinguished.
14AND THIS [IS] [THE] LEGAL [PROCEDURE] OF THE GRAIN OFFERING THEY WILL PRESENT <OBJ.> IT [THE] SONS OF AARON <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH TO [THE] FACE OF THE ALTAR The Grain Offering (Leviticus 2:1–16) 14Now this is the law of the grain offering: Aaron’s sons shall present it before the LORD in front of the altar.
15AND HE WILL LIFT UP FROM IT IN HANDFUL HIS SOME OF [THE] FINE FLOUR OF THE GRAIN OFFERING AND SOME OF OIL ITS AND <OBJ.> ALL THE FRANKINCENSE WHICH [IS] ON THE GRAIN OFFERING AND HE WILL MAKE SMOKE THE ALTAR AN ODOR OF SOOTHING MEMORIAL OFFERING ITS TO YAHWEH 15The priest is to remove a handful of fine flour and olive oil together with all the frankincense from the grain offering, and burn the memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
16AND THE REMAINDER OF IT THEY WILL EAT AARON AND SONS HIS UNLEAVENED BREAD<S> IT WILL BE EATEN IN A PLACE HOLY IN [THE] COURTYARD OF [THE] TENT OF MEETING THEY WILL EAT IT 16Aaron and his sons are to eat the remainder It must be eaten without leaven in a holy place; they are to eat it in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
17NOT IT WILL BE BAKED LEAVEN SHARE THEIR I HAVE GIVEN <OBJ.> IT FROM FIRE OFFERINGS MY [IS] A HOLY THING OF HOLY THINGS IT LIKE THE SIN OFFERING AND LIKE THE GUILT OFFERING 17It must not be baked with leaven; I have assigned it as their portion of My food offerings. It is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
18EVERY MALE AMONG [THE] SONS OF AARON HE WILL EAT IT A PRESCRIBED PORTION OF PERPETUITY TO GENERATIONS YOUR FROM [THE] FIRE OFFERINGS OF YAHWEH EVERY [ONE] WHO HE WILL TOUCH <IN> THEM HE WILL BE HOLY 18Any male among the sons of Aaron may eat it. This is a permanent portion from the food offerings to the LORD for the generations to come. Anything that touches them will become holy.”
20THIS [IS] [THE] PRESENT OF AARON AND SONS HIS WHICH THEY WILL PRESENT TO YAHWEH ON [THE] DAY IS ANOINTED <OBJ.> HIM <THE> TENTH OF <THE> EPHAH FINE FLOUR GRAIN OFFERING CONTINUALLY HALF ITS IN THE MORNING AND HALF ITS IN THE EVENING 20“This is the offering that Aaron and his sons must present to the LORD on the day he is anointed: a tenth of an ephah of fine flour*NoteCloseA tenth of an ephah is approximately 2 dry quarts or 2.2 liters (probably about 2.6 pounds or 1.2 kilograms of flour). as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening.
21ON A BAKING TRAY WITH <THE> OIL IT WILL BE MADE MIXED [DOUGH] YOU WILL BRING IT BROKEN PIECES OF A GRAIN OFFERING OF CRUMBS YOU WILL PRESENT AN ODOR OF SOOTHING TO YAHWEH 21It shall be prepared with oil on a griddle;*NoteCloseThat is, a shallow pan for baking or frying you are to bring it well-kneaded and present it as a grain offering broken*NoteCloseOr baked in pieces, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
22AND THE PRIEST <THE> ANOINTED IN PLACE OF HIM ONE OF SONS HIS HE WILL OFFER <OBJ.> IT A PRESCRIBED PORTION OF PERPETUITY TO YAHWEH A WHOLE OFFERING IT WILL BE MADE TO SMOKE 22The priest, who is one of Aaron’s sons and will be anointed to take his place, is to prepare it. As a permanent portion for the LORD, it must be burned completely.
23AND EVERY GRAIN OFFERING OF A PRIEST A WHOLE OFFERING IT WILL BE NOT IT WILL BE EATEN 23Every grain offering for a priest shall be burned completely; it is not to be eaten.”
24AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING The Sin Offering (Leviticus 4:1–35; Leviticus 5:1–13) 24And the LORD said to Moses,
25SPEAK TO AARON AND TO SONS HIS <TO> SAYING THIS [IS] [THE] LEGAL [PROCEDURE] OF THE SIN OFFERING IN [THE] PLACE <OF> WHERE IT HAS ITS THROAT CUT THE BURNT OFFERING IT WILL HAVE ITS THROAT CUT THE SIN OFFERING <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH [IS] A HOLY THING OF HOLY THINGS IT 25“Tell Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, the sin offering shall be slaughtered before the LORD; it is most holy.
26THE PRIEST WHO MAKES A SIN OFFERING <OBJ.> IT HE WILL EAT IT IN A PLACE HOLY IT WILL BE EATEN IN [THE] COURTYARD OF [THE] TENT OF MEETING 26The priest who offers it shall eat it; it must be eaten in a holy place, in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
27ALL THAT IT WILL TOUCH <IN> MEAT ITS IT WILL BE HOLY AND [ONE] WHO HE WILL SPATTER ANY OF BLOOD ITS ON THE GARMENT [THAT] WHICH HE WILL SPATTER ON IT YOU WILL WASH IN A PLACE HOLY 27Anything that touches its flesh will become holy, and if any of the blood is spattered on a garment, you must wash it in a holy place.
28AND A VESSEL OF EARTHENWARE WHICH IT WILL BE BOILED IN <THE> IT IT WILL BE BROKEN AND IF IN A VESSEL OF BRONZE IT WAS BOILED AND IT WILL BE SCOURED AND IT WILL BE RINSED WITH <THE> WATER 28The clay pot in which the sin offering is boiled must be broken; if it is boiled in a bronze pot, the pot must be scoured and rinsed with water.
29EVERY MALE AMONG THE PRIESTS HE WILL EAT <OBJ.> IT [IS] A HOLY THING OF HOLY THINGS IT 29Any male among the priests may eat it; it is most holy.
30AND ANY SIN OFFERING WHICH IT WILL BE BROUGHT IN ANY OF BLOOD ITS INTO [THE] TENT OF MEETING TO MAKE ATONEMENT IN THE HOLY PLACE NOT IT WILL BE EATEN WITH <THE> FIRE IT WILL BE BURNED 30But no sin offering may be eaten if its blood has been brought into the Tent of Meeting to make atonement in the Holy Place; it must be burned. [’’]
