89AND WHEN WENT MOSES INTO [THE] TENT OF MEETING TO SPEAK WITH HIM AND HE HEARD <OBJ.> THE VOICE SPEAKING TO HIM FROM ABOVE THE ATONEMENT COVER WHICH [WAS] ON [THE] ARK OF THE TESTIMONY FROM BETWEEN [THE] TWO THE CHERUBIM AND HE SPOKE TO HIM 89When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the mercy seat*NoteCloseOr atonement cover on the ark of the Testimony.*NoteCloseThat is, the ark of the covenant Thus the LORD spoke to him.
1AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING The Lampstand (Exodus 25:31–40; Exodus 37:17–24) 1Then the LORD said to Moses,
2SPEAK TO AARON AND YOU WILL SAY TO HIM WHEN LIFTING UP YOU <OBJ.> THE LAMPS TO [THE] FRONT OF [THE] FACE OF THE LAMPSTAND THEY WILL GIVE LIGHT [THE] SEVEN THE LAMPS 2“Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
3AND HE DID SO AARON TO [THE] FRONT OF [THE] FACE OF THE LAMPSTAND HE LIFTED UP LAMPS ITS JUST AS HE HAD COMMANDED YAHWEH <OBJ.> MOSES 3And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
4AND THIS [WAS] [THE] WORK OF THE LAMPSTAND HAMMERED WORK GOLD TO BASE ITS TO BLOSSOM ITS [WAS] HAMMERED WORK IT LIKE THE APPEARANCE WHICH HE HAD SHOWN YAHWEH <OBJ.> MOSES SO HE MADE <OBJ.> THE LAMPSTAND 4This is how the lampstand was constructed: it was made of hammered gold from its base to its blossoms, fashioned according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses.
5AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING Cleansing the Levites 5Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
6TAKE <OBJ.> THE LEVITES FROM AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND YOU WILL PURIFY <OBJ.> THEM 6“Take the Levites from among the Israelites and make them ceremonially clean.
7AND THUS YOU WILL DO TO <THE> THEM TO PURIFY THEM SPATTER ON THEM WATER OF SIN OFFERING AND THEY WILL CAUSE TO PASS A RAZOR OVER ALL BODY THEIR AND THEY WILL WASH CLOTHES THEIR AND THEY WILL PURIFY THEMSELVES 7This is what you must do to cleanse them: Sprinkle them with the water of purification. Have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.
8AND THEY WILL TAKE A YOUNG BULL A YOUNG ONE OF CATTLE AND GRAIN OFFERING ITS FINE FLOUR MIXED WITH <THE> OIL AND A YOUNG BULL SECOND A YOUNG ONE OF CATTLE YOU WILL TAKE TO A SIN OFFERING 8Then have them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.
9AND YOU WILL BRING NEAR <OBJ.> THE LEVITES <TO> BEFORE [THE] TENT OF MEETING AND YOU WILL ASSEMBLE <OBJ.> ALL [THE] CONGREGATION OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 9Bring the Levites before the Tent of Meeting and assemble the whole congregation of Israel.
10AND YOU WILL BRING NEAR <OBJ.> THE LEVITES <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH AND THEY WILL LAY [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL <OBJ.> HANDS THEIR ON THE LEVITES 10You are to present the Levites before the LORD and have the Israelites lay their hands upon them.
11AND HE WILL WAVE AARON <OBJ.> THE LEVITES A WAVE-OFFERING <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH FROM WITH [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND THEY WILL BE TO SERVE <OBJ.> [THE] SERVICE OF YAHWEH 11Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
12AND THE LEVITES THEY WILL LAY <OBJ.> HANDS THEIR ON [THE] HEAD OF THE YOUNG BULLS AND OFFER <OBJ.> THE ONE A SIN OFFERING AND <OBJ.> THE ONE A BURNT OFFERING TO YAHWEH TO MAKE ATONEMENT ON THE LEVITES 12And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and offer to the LORD one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, to make atonement for the Levites.
13AND YOU WILL MAKE STAND <OBJ.> THE LEVITES <TO> BEFORE AARON AND <TO> BEFORE SONS HIS AND YOU WILL WAVE <OBJ.> THEM A WAVE-OFFERING TO YAHWEH 13You are to have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons and then present them before the LORD as a wave offering.
14AND YOU WILL SEPARATE <OBJ.> THE LEVITES FROM AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND THEY WILL BELONG TO <THE> ME THE LEVITES 14In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
15AND AFTER THUS THEY WILL GO THE LEVITES TO SERVE <OBJ.> [THE] TENT OF MEETING AND YOU WILL PURIFY <OBJ.> THEM AND YOU WILL WAVE <OBJ.> THEM A WAVE-OFFERING 15After you have cleansed them and presented them as a wave offering, they may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
16FOR [ARE] ASSIGNED ASSIGNED THEY TO <THE> ME FROM AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IN PLACE OF [THE] FIRSTBORN OF EVERY WOMB [THE] FIRSTBORN OF ALL FROM [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL I HAVE TAKEN <OBJ.> THEM FOR <THE> MYSELF 16For the Levites have been wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself in place of all who come first from the womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel.
17FOR [BELONGS] TO <THE> ME EVERY FIRSTBORN AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AMONG <THE> HUMANKIND AND AMONG THE LIVESTOCK ON [THE] DAY STRUCK I EVERY FIRSTBORN IN [THE] LAND OF EGYPT I SET APART <OBJ.> THEM FOR <THE> MYSELF 17For every firstborn male in Israel is Mine, both man and beast. I set them apart for Myself on the day I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt.
18AND I HAVE TAKEN <OBJ.> THE LEVITES IN PLACE OF EVERY FIRSTBORN AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 18But I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel.
19AND I HAVE GIVEN! <OBJ.> THE LEVITES GIVEN [THINGS] TO AARON AND TO SONS HIS FROM AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO SERVE <OBJ.> [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING AND TO MAKE ATONEMENT ON [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND NOT IT WILL BE AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL A PLAGUE WHEN DRAW NEAR [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO THE HOLY PLACE 19And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting and to make atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
20AND HE DID MOSES AND AARON AND ALL [THE] CONGREGATION OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO THE LEVITES ACCORDING TO ALL THAT HE HAD COMMANDED YAHWEH <OBJ.> MOSES OF THE LEVITES SO THEY DID TO <THE> THEM [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 20So Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation of Israel did with the Levites everything that the LORD had commanded Moses they should do.
21AND THEY PURIFIED THEMSELVES THE LEVITES AND THEY WASHED CLOTHES THEIR AND HE WAVED AARON <OBJ.> THEM A WAVE-OFFERING <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH AND HE MADE ATONEMENT ON THEM AARON TO PURIFY THEM 21The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes, and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them.
22AND AFTER THUS THEY WENT THE LEVITES TO SERVE <OBJ.> SERVICE THEIR IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING <TO> BEFORE AARON AND <TO> BEFORE SONS HIS JUST AS HE HAD COMMANDED YAHWEH <OBJ.> MOSES ON THE LEVITES SO THEY DID TO <THE> THEM 22After that, the Levites came to perform their service at the Tent of Meeting in the presence of Aaron and his sons. Thus they did with the Levites just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
24THIS [IS THAT] WHICH [IS] TO THE LEVITES FROM A SON OF FIVE AND TWENTY YEAR[S] AND UP -WARDS HE WILL GO TO SERVE SERVICE IN [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] TENT OF MEETING 24“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
25AND FROM A SON OF FIFTY YEAR[S] HE WILL TURN BACK FROM [THE] SERVICE OF THE SERVICE AND NOT HE WILL SERVE AGAIN 25But at the age of fifty, they must retire from performing the work and no longer serve.
26AND HE WILL SERVE <OBJ.> BROTHERS HIS IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING BY KEEPING A DUTY AND SERVICE NOT HE WILL SERVE THUS YOU WILL DO TO THE LEVITES IN DUTIES THEIR 26After that, they may assist their brothers in fulfilling their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to assign responsibilities to the Levites.”
