CONCERNING NOW THE TIMES AND THE SEASONS, BROTHERS, NO NEED YOU HAVE TO YOU TO BE WRITTEN; The Day of the Lord (Zephaniah 1:7–18; Malachi 4:1–6; 2 Peter 3:8–13) 1Now about the times and seasons, brothers, we do not need to write to you.
YOURSELVES FOR FULLY YOU KNOW THAT THE DAY OF [THE] LORD AS A THIEF BY NIGHT IN THIS MANNER COMES; 2For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
WHEN FOR THEY MAY SAY; PEACE AND SECURITY, THEN SUDDENLY UPON THEM COMES DESTRUCTION AS THE LABOR PAINS TO HER IN WOMB [PREGNANCY] HAVING, AND CERTAINLY NOT SHALL THEY ESCAPE. 3While people are saying, “Peace and security, ” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
YOU YOURSELVES HOWEVER, BROTHERS, NOT ARE IN DARKNESS, THAT THE DAY YOU LIKE A THIEF MAY GRASP; 4But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.
ALL FOR YOU YOURSELVES SONS OF LIGHT ARE AND SONS OF DAY; NOT WE ARE OF NIGHT NOR OF DARKNESS. 5For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
SO THEN NOT WE MAY SLEEP AS ALSO THE OTHERS BUT WE MAY WATCH AND WE MAY BE SOBER. 6So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.
THOSE FOR SLEEPING BY NIGHT SLEEP AND THOSE BECOMING DRUNK BY NIGHT GET DRUNK; 7For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
WE OURSELVES HOWEVER OF [THE] DAY BEING MAY BE SOBER HAVING PUT ON [THE] BREASTPLATE OF FAITH AND LOVE AND [THE] HELMET [THE] HOPE OF SALVATION; 8But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.
BECAUSE NOT HAS DESTINED US <THE> GOD FOR WRATH BUT FOR OBTAINING SALVATION THROUGH THE LORD OF US JESUS CHRIST 9For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
